Your Christmas is Most Like: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Christmas is a big, boisterous event at your place.
And no matter what, something hilarious usually happens.

Where's SimOmaha so I can cause a disaster?

I ventured into Omaha today to get an FM transmitter that ran off the iPod rather than batteries. All Best Buy and Radio Shack had were iTrips that worked with the older versions and wouldn't work with mine. The older versions had an additional port near the headphones for interface and the new one doesn't so I need the iTrip with a dock connector. I was wasting time at the mall and Barnes and Noble and it hit me... CompUSA! It's sorta far from Oak View but they have a huge Apple section. I found my iTrip there but I was also looking for a way to charge it and that iTrip wasn't there. I settled on a Kensington one that's somewhat compact and I got an iSqueeze to hold it in a cup holder. tO mAny wIerd cApitalizations! Now I'm trying to find vidoes to throw on there because I'm not really using 60 GB very well.

I also noticed how much I hate Omaha today. It really didn't bother me so much but I get frustrated how you go into Omaha looking for something and you go all around the city and sometime come back with nothing. I could go to Sioux City and even if I didn't find it, I didn't waste too much time because everything is right next to the mall. When Best Buy and Dragon's Lair moved it really made me not like Oak View and since there's eternal construction on Dodge, Westroads isn't fun to get to.

The Haul

Well, my Christmas went well. I got some gift certificates from my mom's side as well as an addicting little game called 20Q. It's esentially 20 questions and the little thing gets it right a lot. My parents got me a thumb drive and an iPod so I'm pretty happy. I also got the Switchfoot album and the Jet album from my dad's side. They're so old but I never got around to getting them.

Now I got to get an FM transmitter for my iPod with my Best Buy certficate and maybe some fun things too. I'm also dead on plans for New Years so if you're in the Omaha area and doing something, let me know.

The Carver and his True Identity

Well, I'm glad it wasn't my pick, Liz. I liked her character and even though she had a lot of evidence against her, I wanted to see what will happen to her later in the series and we can't find out if she's in jail/dead/in Spain. I'm glad they went they way they did and still kept us guessing. It would prevent having us wonder how this non-Carver with no suspicions previously was able to do it. I do wonder where the true Carver was during the first attacks or if the explanation earlier was ambiguous enough that I didn't let it pass.

Well, they kind wrapped everything up now. I figure we'll see what happened to Matt and the consequences of his action. Cherry will get in trouble but Matt will take the fall. Now that McNamara and Troy possibly know or will soon find out that the Carver's not dead, I wonder if they'll blab to anyone and have some revenge taken on them. Julia and Sean are moving in together, I'm curious to see now the she has her life in order and she's not attracted to Christian if they'll hook up again or not.

I hope they start up in May like they did with the first two seasons so it's on sooner and the box set will be out a few weeks before the season starts.

The Carver and Expansions

Well, once again it's good to have an Xbox. Battlefront II will also have some additional content for Xbox Live. They have Kashyyyk available for Hero-for-all previously in Mos Eisley, In January for $4.99 they'll add Kit Fisto and Asajj Ventress as players, but also 4 maps from Battlefront including: Yavin IV: Arena, Bespin:Cloud City, Rhen Var: Harbor, and Rhen Var: Citadel all with the extra Hero-for-all. That's good because I miss Rhen Var. That's bad because I don't have an Xbox. I'm not sure how or if it will work for Xbox 360 considering how Battlefront II is not supported by the 360. Maybe if sales are poor they'll put it for PS2 online for those with large enough memory cards.

The Carver and Omaha

Well, I've been home for a while now and not a whole lot has really happened. The other day I went in to Omaha to get a puzzle to cure boredom. I got a 3D Sears Tower and got that done. It glows! Whoa! Last night my grandparents and us went to our church's Christmas Pageant. It was neat as it usually is. Then we went to Mimi's Cafe in Village Pointe. We saw John Knicely from the news. How sad. Tonight we're having Christmas with my brother's fiance and then over the nexxt few days I plan on going in to Omaha as well, probably to get another puzzle.

My parents ordered a bunch of fruit from the FFA. But they screwed up the order so we have like 80+ oranges. We picked up a juicer to get rid of some of them but if anyone knows any orange recipes, that would be awesome.

Also, Entertainment Weekly posted odds from Vegas for the Carver's identity:
Dr. Quentin Costa = 8 to 5
Matt McNamara = 5 to 2
Det. Kit McGraw = 3 to 1
Dr. Merrill Bobolit = 8 to 1
Dr. Liz Cruz = 10 to 1
Ava Moore = 15 to 1
Dr. Christian Troy = 5,000 to 1

The Carver and his Identity

It's time for me to theorize on the identity of The Carver. Well, they've said it's a main character/cast member. He's considered to be male. He seems to have a medical knowledge about tranquilizers. The obvious choice would be Dr. Costa, the new guy brought on in Season 3. I don't think it's him, but I do think the actor supplies the voice as shown in this audio fix. Considering the only time The Carver speaks in Season 2 is when Dr. Costa is making his only appearance as well. But he was in Atlanta or Sudan during the first attacks so it probably wasn't him.

Well I don't like the idea of Sean and Christian taking turns because the voice would change slightly with each tone. Also in the last episode of Season 2, even though it is intercut, Sean is waiting for The Carver as Christian is attacked. They're also not doing it to get more clients because all the work on the victims is pro bono and they don't really want that publicity necessarily.

The second obvious guess would be Liz, which is Steph's pick, because she knows medical supplies, she knows how to knock a person out with a drug, and she's a lesbian and would have access to a dildo to simulate rape without leaving DNA evidence. Throw a condom on there and you have an alibi why it's a man. They did say in the preview that rape is not about sex, but about power. She's also featured in it as a suspect. She had an abortion when she found out the child would have birth defects so she is concerned about the beauty she sees herself as not having. Also, we don't delve into her personal life on the show as much so we don't explore her whereabouts. She is tired of repairing the victims though. I don't really see it in her character, but out of all of them, she seems most possible.

I was also thinking maybe Gina, because she's a freak. She is also not paid much attention and the arbiter said she was dangerous (to a baby) but I don't think she's that sadistic, but then again, I don't see Liz that sadistic also. We were poking fun that it could be Matt because he's so hideous, but I don't take that too seriously. For a while I thought it was Ava because she really has no whereabouts and she is twisted, but I think she was too busy with Matt and Adrian to go around raping. Daniele thought it was Adrian for a while until she saw him die.

I think it would be funny if it turned out to be Dr. Santiago. She was simply ignored in Season 2 after being so prevalent in Season 1 and she was a main cast member at the time. They just dropped her without explanation and she knows things about medicine. I think that would be so out of the way, but karma.

How I see the finale? I would like to see a scene of the family breaking bread like they did in the previous seasons as a nice touch, but the reveal...I could see them doing some sort of reveal from behind (if the character has recognizable hair) but not show the face. I hope that they only show the face to the audience and not the characters. It's fun watching Season 3 when you have no idea who he is, but Season 4 would be fun if we know, but they have no clue.

My pick:

Liz

Who do you think it is?

The Carver plays pool

Just a few minutes ago, Steph, Angie, Daniele and I were downstairs watching the new Nip/Tuck before the finale next week. I'm so excited! Anyways, during the repeat Daniele got weird and went upstairs and rented the pool equipment. So we played a few rounds. I lost 3 times! 2 by that 8 ball! It was fun though.

My Presidency final is essentially done. I can hand it in right now, or I can add a few refinements if I can think of any but for now, it's done. So basically I have a Soc final, then a break, and then my History final. Thursday I have the Tekken final which I don't have to study for.

The past few days...

On Friday my brother called me and said he proposed. So I'm excited to go home and see them. Our conversations are always so nonchalant though but we have an understanding.

Yesterday was the Sci-Fi Christmas Party. We gave out the awards we made and I think most people enjoyed what they got. A group of us then worked on a puzzle until completion and then we started Nip/Tuck. We didn't watch much until people wanted to go so then we went back to Steph's room and finished off Season 2 until 4am. That was fun. It was a little disappointing how Jodie got my scarf done on time and the weather decides to raise by 40 degrees. Sarah gave me a Wonka bar and Rachel gave me a bunch of Star Wars PEZ dispensers. I gave Jodie the R2-D2 and Steph the Vader because I already had one.

I got my bibliographies done yesterday and today I will compile my paper on the Qur'an and the Rule of St. Benedict. Yay for nearly completed homework!

Your 2005 Song Is

Mr. Brightside by The Killers

"It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss"

Let's just say you're happy to be done with 2005!

Almost Done

Well, I'm essentially done with classes. Both Tekken and Soc were cancelled for Monday so I only have History at 2 on Monday. So basically I have to finish my bibliographies, compile a paper, do a take home test, and continue taking the Hardware test. I only have 3 conventional finals and my Tuesday is free so I'm sure I can get this done.

Last night, I was down in Steph and Angie's room until 3 watching Nip/Tuck. I went upstairs and Tammy and Amy stopped me. I forgot that it was Thursday and there's no 24 hour visitation. Oh well. They said they'll have to write me up. This is why I keep my door open because when the RAs do patrols they can remind me of the guidelines I rarely remember. I'll just have to keep that in mind next time.

Disturbingly Perfect Day

Today I went to Sioux City with Rachel, Jodie, and Sarah. We first went to Target to look and I didn't get anything. We then went to Old Navy and I found a cheap tee that I got. We then went to Best Buy to look as well. Then we went to the mall and looked for a suit for Sarah's interviews. After that we wandered until the Hallmark store where I got my Princess Leia ornament for my Tree of All Sci-Fi. Then it was Hot Topic where Jodie got a corset. I forgot I have 10% off there next so I've been looking at what to get. The we went to Barnes and Noble. Jodie and I got Gingerbread Lattes from Starbucks and they were so awesome. We then went to go eat at the food court. We had to go to Wal-Mart. I was going to get fortune cookies and Crystal Light on the Go but I put them back. They still had Nip/Tuck Season 1 for $20 so I got it. I also picked up some yarn because Jodie said she would crochet me a scarf. I also got a ghetto topper for my tree. When I rang out my Nip/Tuck at the self-checkout the attendant had to check my ID. Funny.

Let's go piss off the Big Ass Bear Thing

Yesterday, it was another day of Faye, Steph, Angie, and Daniele. We watched A Clockwork Orange because Faye hasn't seen it. We then had a Disney urge and watched The Little Mermaid trying to piece together Ursula's history. We also discussed what it means to be a mermaid and suddenly having a female bottom half. After that it was Beauty and the Beast and we commented how Belle is a moron. It's her first night there and she directly disobeys the Beast's only order. I guess he's not very scary or something since no one takes him seriously. Also how it takes about five minutes to get to his castle yet no one ever really knew it was there at the same time. Daniele and Faye also did the math that he was a beast for 10 years and the spell would end at his 21st birthday. So he was 11 when he answered the door?

We then went upstairs and played more Trivial Pursuit. Faye and Steph won again. It wasn't quite as freaky as last night. I borrowed Troy from Steph and watched that also. So basically it was a fun day of insanity followed by another...

Taste like Cat, Walk like People

Yesterday Steph's friends including Faye came up to WSC and they visited me and I understood a lot more about Steph. Later on, they came up to play Trivial Pursuit DVD Pop Culture. I was a team along with Team Lesbian Cat People as Steph and Faye with Team Frankenbanana of Angie and Daniele. We all eventually had our pieces and needed the middle while the insanity got worse with the Crab People theme song after an answer was the movie Cat People. Then it was past midnight so Steph was going crazy and lezzing out. They ended up winning. That was fun. I found out later that they stayed up until 2 making up more Crab People variants. Anyways: The blue question is for Jodie:

Gold Yoda Can

OK, Here's a story from Thanksgiving. It's the night before with my mom's side and my cousin asks me if I had regretted keeping a Gold Yoda can instead of getting $20. A little backstory here: Back in 1999 Pepsi released cans with 20 different Episode I characters on them and I got most of them except the Gold Yoda and the even rarer colored Destiny can. Well I told him that I never had a Gold Yoda. Now a normal person would simply accept this and move on, not him. He says, "Yeah, you do. I know I saw one of yours." I tell him, "No, I never had a Gold Yoda can." He is insistent that I have one somewhere. I tell him, "No, I don't have one. I am in a position to know what I have and what I do not have." He continues to be insistent until my annoyed brother tells me to end it. That angers me on two positions: 1. I'm right. 2. I'm not yelling or making a scene, but being calm about everything.

This is coming from their family where arguing is like a sport. They're like Tellarites. Those kids argue with each other about anything they can think of. This is why they have 9 TVs and 11 phones in a house of 5 because it's so hard to share and get along.

Also, his older sister was telling me about how she still thinks that Episode I was better than Episode III. I'd like to think she was joking but I strongly don't think so because she has Episode I and said the same about Episode II and never bought that one. I told her, "You are the only person in the world who thinks that." She said she liked it because of Jar Jar. I told her, "That is the exact reason why everyone else in the world doesn't like that movie." This is the movie that has bumped Return of the Jedi on some people's lists. I know that some people, like Jodie, don't even like Episode I at all. I respect it out of the sake of Star Wars but it's not #1. She is like the Bizarro Star Wars fan. I don't even want to know what she thinks of the Trilogy. So I'm sitting here thinking: Where am I? What is this place? How did I get here? What is wrong with these people?

At Best Buy

I was at Best Buy the other day looking at CDs and I saw the new Switchfoot album and I checked to see if it was a new release. No, it was not. It was the one with Sony's XCP spyware crap on it. It should've been recalled by now. It made we want to go and get some printable stickers that said:

DO NOT BUY
Contains Sony's XCP spyware
Ask Manager to Recall
Just because we're in Nebraska doesn't mean we're completely out of the loop. I found out about the spyware on the disc by it's back which looks like this:

The give-away is the "XCP" in the info web address. For a list of "infected" CDs, click here. This just makes me mad because people probably don't really know better and they should and then they'll have issues when they try to copy music to the computer or even worse, to an iPod, which won't work.

Thanksgiving

Well, not a whole lot to say really. I went into Omaha on Wednesday to get some stuff and then went to Waterloo to Harr's for Thanksgiving with my mom's side. It was nice, I guess. Yesterday I went over to my great aunt's house for Thanksgiving with my dad's side. We played some poker. I had absolutely nothing all night. My aunt did not know how to play and joined and won. Today I set up the big Christmas tree which took a while. Tomorrow is the October-November birthdays over at my cousins' house and Sunday is church and hopefully Westroads and also I need to get supplies like crazy.

I found out that my family has been letting the 3-legged cat into the house. He's much nicer than our crabby cat. He has the random name of Don and is a talker. When I get back up to college on Sunday I need to write a 4-5 page paper for Soc on Monday and do a crappy little assignment for Tekken. I also have to do a smaller paper for Presidency sometime before Tuesday. I'm hoping I'm motivated enough to work on it tomorrow during the day so I can have at least one thing done.

That's not Grievous

Well, yesterday a group of us went off to Sioux City to see the Harry Potter movie. I gave Jodie a couple of CDs of David Dondero, Eagle*Seagull, and Rilo Kiley I got from Matt. We went to Barnes and Noble first and Jodie and I tried to find Dianetics under the Sci-Fi section. No, it's not there. Then a bunch of us went to Hot Topic. The Book Lady and I emptied out most of the band buttons looking at them. Then the Book Lady, Steph and I wandered around the mall. We went to Spencers to find stuff for Jen, and then Sam Goody. There was a high-school worker there that saw us looking at the guitars and wanted to teach us. We then went to the preppy stores. American Eagle was playing The Bravery! We saw the expensive clothes. We then went into Far East Treasures and looked at the bongs. We then went to FYE and looked at music stuffs. Every store had something Beatles so Stephanie was going crazy. I wasn't going to the movie and Steph's back was bothering her so we didn't go and wandered around. We saw another music store in the mall and ogled the guitars again. There was also a game store. We then walked to Toys 'R' Us to find lightsabers. No they had none that lit up. They did have this re-frickin-diculous Star Wars knock off product filled with old CCG cards. It was too funny I had to take a picture:

As you can see there's some sort of something that could be considered Grievous, what may be a man dressed as a poor Amidala, and an obvious Blackbird or similar jet with writing on it that may pass as a starfighter in some un-named belief. Wow! Then we walked back to the food court and I got Burger King as Steph and I talked about Star Wars. Steph made fun of the Churro Churro mascot and she can't look at it again. Especially when a lady nearby was eating one slowly. Then we went back to Hot Topic and I got a cool messenger bag and patch. We wandered around the mall and saw the "boob jackets", the jackets cut so short and don't button that their only foreseeable use is to prevent nipping out. We laughed. Then we wandered back to Barnes and Noble to find Sex for Dummies for Jen and sat down for a while until they called and said the movie was done.

They went to eat as we talked. Angelina got a Churro Churro and Steph laughed. We then all went to Barnes and Noble again. We looked at the sex books again and laughed at the Kama Sutra until we left. We went to Wal-Mart and basically wasted time as Jodie returned her Smallville. They did have the color-changing Anakin lightsaber. We left there not before finding an inappropriate gourd. We then wanted Jen to see Doctor John's so I think she was freaked out by the place. Then we returned to Wayne. Now I'm somewhat excited for break.

Bright Eyes Concert

Alrighty, time to talk about last night's concert. First, Jodie and I closed up the fundraiser early and went off to Omaha. I was happy because I got to be preppy in a way. We had to stop at Will's to drop off something and to get more precise directions. He left a note: "Jodie Matt's". That's all that was needed. We went over to Matt's and saw Jen's ring. They said they were going to Kobe Steakhouse of Japan and invited us along. I hadn't been there in like 4-5 years so it was awesome. I had Chicken and Crabmeat. Jen was learning how to use chopsticks and she got a trainer thingy and was happy. The food was so good. Matt made the chef do a volcano. I commented that we were having a dinner and a show, then another show.

We went to the Orpheum for the show and it was my first time being there since 4th grade. The first guy was pretty good. He kinda suffers the opening act curse where he was good but eclipsed by the later bands that you remember like Number One Fan was. David Dondero was great. He was hilarious. I wanted his CD but the one there didn't have his Pre-Invasion Jitters song but I found it online. Spoon was good also. Their set felt backwards to me. The song I liked the most were the first ones and the later ones felt droning and repetitive. Still, they were good and want to hear how their album sounds. Then Bright Eyes took the stage. I was expecting most of the songs to be from Digital Ash but they played a nice mix from their albums. Jodie was happy they played Nothing Gets Crossed Out which is her anthem right now. Conor is so funny. Guys from the balcony would yell stuff at him but then he would always say, "Thank you, thank you so much," between each song. He also said the last time he was at the Orpheum, he was graduating high school so he took the time to recreate the experience. At one point they all went offstage but the house lights were still off so it took about 5 slow-claps to get them back on stage. I was considering getting a T-shirt but I didn't have cash on had and I should hold back on my expenditures for a while. On the way out I saw Matt and Shaun and that was cool. I tried seeing if Nikki was there but she didn't answer.

On the way back I was getting tired at about 2am so I just listened to Jodie's stories the way back up. Of course, DSAX and Griswold were still awake at 3:30 when we got back.

Sci-Fi Fundraiser II

Sci-fi is having its fundraiser now. If you stop by the gag and bring change and put it in the bin of your favorite professor and if they get the most change, they have to dress as Death for a day. The candidates are: Dr. Randy Bertolas, Dr. Paul Karr, Dr. Richard Keenan, Jean Lutt, Mike Marek, Dr. David "Max" McElwain, Greg VanderWeil, Ron Vick, and Dr. Todd Young. Give us money or we'll send Imperial Death after you: Posted by Picasa

Charlie and the Midnight Run

Well it was time for the Wonkaness. Dan, Andie, Heather, Heidi, Jodie, and I went off to Norfolk to pick up the movie. I wanted in particular the 2-disc Deluxe Edition. Wal-Mart had the single disc with an exclusive CD containing the welcome and Oompa Loompa songs. Most people picked up that, but I wanted my 2-disc. I found the slot for it but they wouldn't open the boxes fast enough. Jodie got bored and went to Hy-Vee and finally they opened it. Dan liked the cover art because it is darker and it tempted him, but not enough. It was also filled with a pack of trading cards.

I watched it when I got back and I was tired again. However, I have found a benefit for watching then. People like to borrow/watch the movie and if I had already seen it, it's OK to let them. I did watch the Disc 2 and liked it. The features are short and fun to watch. I haven't tried the Activities but I'm not sure if I'll like it or not. Oh well, go get the movie. Time to play some more Battlefront II.

College Visits

I am a little irate right now. My parents called yesterday and told me that my cousin Adam came up for Fridays at WSC and tred to get a hold of me but couldn't. Well, I know why, I was in Sioux City. It irritates me because everyone from home usually calls or emails or something before they drive one and a half hours to get here. My cousin Kathryn called several times when she visited. My cousin Lisa let me know she was coming to see me, and like a billion others. My cousin Melissa let me know months in advance she was coming for a concert. My classmate Sarah got a hold of me beforehand. Even my classmate Amanda visited after Nikki said she was here. It's just so annoying because I would've been here if I had known. You can't expect me to sit around on my butt waiting for potential visitors.

Impulsiveness

Yesterday I went off to Sioux City because I haven't been anywhere in a while. I picked up a shirt at Aéropostale that was marked down so I was happy. Clothes are so expensive now it seems. The shirt I got had similar styles for $30-35 at the Buckle, American Eagle, and PacSun. I got mine for $15. I rock. Hot Topic had something I may get at some time but not now. I spent a lot of time in Barnes and Noble and picked up the Gnostic Scriptures because I've wanted to read them. I then decided that I should go over to Best Buy because I haven't been there since it opened.

I walk in and there's a ton of Star Wars stuff since Tuesday. I was happy. I also found that they had Battlefront II for Xbox being played. Now, I did play it on the demo that came with the DVD and I wasn't going to buy it unless I could change the controls because the demo wouldn't. I was going to rent it but here it is for free. So I play it...for about an hour. It's really tempting me now. I decide to get it. They also had for free the City of Heroes Bootleg Edition, not sure what exactly that is, and some I Love the 80's 3D glasses. I did find out that Reward Zone members get a free lithograph with the DVD or Battlefront. I'm glad I am a member for once. I figured they'd only let me use $3 of the Monopoly money because of my CD fiasco but I was surprised that they didn't care so I had $9 from that. So, for being impulsive, I got a $50 game for $40 with a free, really awesome litho, another game, and some retro glasses. Not too shabby.

Revenge of the Midnight Run

Well since it was the remnant of Halloween it was decided that we would go to Wal-Mart in Norfolk in cognito. I took Jen, Dan, and Andie as Sam took Jodie and the others. We got there and started the search for the Star Wars. We found out they had a Star Wars party just earlier that no one knew about. We found the DVD with bonus disc in widescreen and hugged it. After a while, all my headgear started to drive me nuts so I removed it. I could find Battlefront II or its space in the shelf so I'm taking that as fate telling me to wait for Christmas. I had to take off my gloves so I could do the ritual of opening the DVD just to see the disc and the inserts. What a relief.

I am upset though. Because there was no way to do an all movie marathon in a 24 hour timespan, I decided to watch one every day this week. I played Episode I on my TV as Roger and Megan and I played Trivial Pursuit even thought I wanted to see it on my laptop because it's right next to my face and has better quality. I saw Episode II that day but my DVD player in my laptop started skipping again. It does this periodically and now it's back. Of all days! I watched it on the TV without incident and when I got back I tried Episode III. It skipped! I played it on my TV also and started at about 2:00 AM. This is actually the first time I've watched all of a movie after a midnight run. Usually I watch clips or start the movie and finish later. It was about 4:00 AM when DSAX got back and he was wondering what I was doing and noticed the Revenge. He watched the end with me and then Stu woke up to actually start his day. Funny. I wasn't too tired in class because it was at 11 but I wasn't stellar by any means. I tried the laptop again and it played disc 2 but not disc 1. I'm angry with it. I watched it again and now DSAX has it for the night and I may hop in there later.

Haunted House

Sorry for the lack of postings, it's been a hectic week/weekend. On Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday I was out at the Haunted House for Sci-Fi and WSEAN. It was pretty fun. They wanted Willy Wonka to be the tour guide for the Torture Factory but my goggles fogged up after I put them on, plus the darkness in general kinda made me hesitant. I also forgot a part of it on Thursday but I did bring and wear some of the elements. We put some glow sticks on the cane and found out that it creates a good amount of ambient light on the shiny black glossy walls of the house so on Saturday I went into the TV room and spooked people there while at times greeting people outside. Sunday I went on in TV room again and got the hang of that but I wanted to be in the psychedelic mask strobe-ing room. I went in there near the end and were waiting for the fresh blood when we realized that everyone else was outside because no one was actually coming. I did navigate through the house and figured I would be able to tour guide as long as everyone was in their positions.

On Monday I actually guided. I'm afraid that my presence wasn't so much scary as it was deranged. That's OK though. I took some groups in without breaking out of character once which is trying. I did get a little upset when Megan was standing in the vicinity of the door in the strobe light room, not moving. I ran right into her and she got mad. She told me to take off the goggles and now I really hate that sentence. First, to remove the goggles, I have to remove everything else on my head first. Second, removing them would have me break character and I'm not willing to do that. Third, when a near-blind guy is walking toward you because he can't tell if you are a part of the wall, MOVE! I'm like a dinosaur in there, my vision is based on movement. Oh well, I got over it. I went over to Morey in between to the Monster Bash. I won Best Dressed by a majority and they gave me sugar. I stayed for a while and then headed back to the house. I got there and they were ready to close early because no one had came since I had left with the exception of those inside currently. I did get to tour Dan and Andie through before it was over though. After it was all said and done, we decided when it was time to go on the midnight run...

Video Mods

This is funny. MTV2 has a show called video mods and they have the video from the summer of Franz Ferdinand's Take Me Out modded by Episode III. It's quite funny to see Mace Windu and Obi-Wan on guitar and Yoda on the drums. Apparently they showed a Battlefront II mod on Friday with Vader singing, Boba Fett and Darth Maul on guitar, with Grevious on drums. Too funny.

Watch it here: http://www.mtv2.com/#series/13696

Camaraderie

Hanging out on the floor for the past few weeks has been really eye-opening. I've noticed more people on this floor talking to each other and visiting each other. From the random goose-call to the loud drunk, I think this floor is becoming something that I haven't seen since my first year at college. We did gain 3 new neighbors from the fire. Oh well, I am happy there's no Soc tomorrow. I may play DDR some time.

Nostalgia Day

Today I was in a reflective mood for some reason. I watched my Senior Ski Trip and Class of 2003 DVDs, looked at my yearbook, and played my Year One playlist. I miss all that stuff but then I remember that I have it great here. I rock. I also had my American Presidency class with Leeper cancelled. I don't mind that class but I'll take an excuse to do nothing.

By the way, I know I would look like a dork in the Stater, Rhea.

You Passed 8th Grade Math

Congratulations, you got 10/10 correct!

Frankie says a lot of things

Well, I'm back and my costume is done. I'm excited. I toured the haunted house and I don't think I'm going to be a good tour guide because I can't see a thing in there. I'll probably guide people for the first few hours while you can still see light through the roof and then I'll have to stop. I also am not going to the house tonight. I'm very tired and a little irate at the moment and I need some time to relax. I know, I was just on break but boredom doesn't equal relaxation. I'm going to chill out for a while and take it easy.

Frigid Fall Break

Well, I think my parents took the conservation request a little too far. It is so old in here. It's got to be about 40 in here! For once, I'm glad my room at college is hot. Anyways, I tried to play Red Alert on my laptop today and it wouldn't install. I'm using Windows 5.1 and not Windows 95. How dare I? I picked up the new Franz Ferdinand and the newest Bright Eyes CDs too with my Best Buy bucks. The cheap punks only allow $3 at a time on CDs and video games (and I suspect DVDs). Thanks so much. It was still a good deal anyways. Well that's all I know now. I'll try to make it back up by 6 or so but no promises.

Spike gets Star Wars

Spike has purchased rights to carry all six Star Wars movies in April 2008. Looks like it cost between 65 and 70 million dollars to do so. Ouch but cool! Well, they'll probably play the crap out of it like they do Star Trek

Banging

Last night I woke up at 4am to the sound of a very loud banging on a door. I didn't mind until it was so loud it made me wonder whether it was my door. I couldn't see any foot shadows but I took a look. Here's a drunk DSAX in the hall with Stu and Danza banging on his door trying to wake up his roommate who is passed out on the inside and he's locked out. Then Stu takes notice to the fact that DSAX is wearing his keys on a lanyard around his neck... He tries to open the door to find out that he can't because he has broken the door. He uses a credit card to jimmy the door open and gets in. I sleep. I wake up to see what he did to the door. The lock is busted and there's a crack down the middle. Nice. You know, the RA has all the keys...

Midnight Run Begins

Well last night was the midnight run to go get Batman Begins. I took Dan, Andie, Megan, and Roger along. I found the movie, then later discarded it for the 2-disc. We looked at fun stuff also. Today I was really freaking tired also because it was no-caffeine/no-sugar day. Well what can you do.

On another note, the DVD has a trailer for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the beginning.

The Borrowing

Well for the past week or so I let DSAX borrow my Star Wars: Battlefront for when I went home. He also borrowed Revenge of the Sith from Comte, which I had in turn borrowed at least twice. DSAX also borrowed Clone Wars from me and the other day borrowed Alexander from someone. I borrowed out The 4400 Season 1 to Curt to see if he likes it. Matt wanted to borrow the Untold Story from Stu but he had already borrowed it out to Sarah, so he borrowed my copy. Matt let me borrow his Rilo Kiley and Interpol CDs because they're good. Keith stopped by a couple days ago to borrow a DVD and went for Episode I. Today he returned that and borrowed Episode II. I have to retrieve my borrowed out ACM Secretary notebook because I wasn't at the last meeting and I may waste 3 hours of my existence to borrow Alexander because it is a Director's Cut and I'd like to know if it was improved slightly. Also, if anyone wants to play Risk, I could borrow out one of my thematic versions...

Oh yeah, I need my borrowed Willy Wonka action figure back from Rachel when she's done.

Hover!

I totally forgot about this fun game that was on the Windows 95 CD. Try it if you still remember it: http://www.duke.edu/~mfc5/HOVER.htm

Miniatures in 2006

Hey! They're not done! Wizards of the Coast released what we are to expect for 2006. It' doesn't really start up for a while so these huge Universe packs will probably be around for some time still.

Attack on Endor (due February 2006)
What? I'm not sure what they're up to with this one. They released the "Rebel Hero" Endor versions of Chewie, Han, Leia, and Lando in Universe. Nien Nunb and Ackbar were in there also along the the Dresselian Commando seen in the breifing scene of VI. What more can they make up? They can always add more stormtroopers and rebel troopers but what's the point? Perhaps more and more Ewoks or even Wicket? I'm hoping they include a good Luke unlike the last one. Seriously, this guy couldn't even take on the first Vader, much less the newest Vader. Give his some Hit Points and Attack modifiers similar to the super New Republic Luke who can't be used here beacuse he's not Rebel.

Champions of the Force (due May 2006)
I'm not sure what they're planning here. Are they going to reissue every Jedi and Sith they have made? I have to give them credit, the Republic expansions created a ton of Jedi to use and Revenge of the Sith duplicated the best ones. Please, not another Mace Windu, Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Anakin. I can't take it. I can see them doing this for those who started at Revenge of the Sith and could find any Clone Strike but got the Rebel Storm reissue and are short on Clone Wars Jedi like Qui-Gon and Darth Maul (irony there). I hope they use this to expand on the New Jedi Order they started in Universe and not waste time on duplicating the Republic. The New Republic is filled with a horde of undone Jedi.

Bounty Hunters (due September 2006)
Again, what? They already did the bounty hunters in the first set. The only, and I mean only one they left out was Zuckuss and who really cares about that loser. They better go Expanded Universe on this set.

Galactic Conquest (due November 2006)
I don't know why, but to me this seems like a troop-builder set, which isn't bad. It would be fun to see what a squad on non-Unique characters can do on a massive scale. This could also be a code name for the New Jedi Order also as the Yuuzhan Vong are trying to conquer the galaxy...

I'm not mad or anything, I just don't like having duplicate characters like they did in Universe. I'd be really surprised if they didn't reach further into the New Jedi Order more. There are so many new characters that haven't been miniaturized in that set and it would be fun. I guess we'll have to see.

Finding the "Nooo!" in VI

Last night I was on Wikipedia looking up Star Wars and it said that 3 lines were repeated through all Star Wars: "May the Force be with you." "I have a bad feeling about this." and "Nooo!" This made me think, where are all the "no"s? I figured out:
Episode I = Obi-Wan Kenobi
Episode II = Qui-Gon Jinn
Episode III = Darth Vader
Episode IV = Luke Skywalker
Episode V = Luke Skywalker
Episode VI = ? the droid whose feet is being burnt

It took me a class of Tekken Society to figure it out but I did. Can you? (By the way, those who I have told, if you stumble upon this, don't blab!)

Jackson Wins 'Halo' Franchise

from IMDb.com:

Academy Award-winning director Peter Jackson is turning his favorite video game Halo into a feature-length film. The Lord Of The Rings movie-maker grew addicted to Halo while shooting his latest film King Kong - so he jumped at the chance to snap up the movie rights and take it to the big screen. Jackson will produce the sci-fi film in his native New Zealand. A cast has yet to be announced and it's unknown if he will direct as well. Halo follows hot on the heels of a string of computer games which have been adapted for the big screen, including Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Resident Evil and Doom. The game has sold over five million copies around the world and charts the adventures of futuristic super-soldier Master Chief in his quest to save mankind from aliens. Bungie, the Microsoft-owned business which developed Halo, says, "We're delighted to have someone who's as committed to the Halo universe as Peter Jackson was to Tolkien's Middle-Earth".

Risk and Revenge

Well, last night Dan, Andie, Chris, and Michael came over and played Risk followed by Star Wars Risk while watching(?) the DnD movie on Sci-fi. We then watched Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story and some select South Park episodes until about midnight. Here is Chris's wall of Africa:

As I was escorting them out of Morey I heard the familiar sounds of the Episode III video game. Dsax had borrowed the game from Comte. I watched him play until 4am. That was fun/funny. I borrowed it from him after he beat it and playeed through it. I relieved several elements of the fun and anger I had posted about eariler when I first played it. Oh well.

Later a group came back to play regular Risk. I won that one. I was green.

Widescreen vs. Fullscreen

OK, this is for those of you, including my own brother, who think that fullscreen is so much better than widescreen. Here is a comparison of fullscreen and widescreen from Star Wars. As you can see you get so much more picture with widescreen. They don't add black bars to the top and bottom, they zoom out and add more picture to the sides. C'mon people!

Save the Seals!

Well, I went home this weekend to pick up my glasses and today I went in to Omaha. Outside Red Lobster there was a protest to save the seals. They told me to boycott Canadian seafood. I'm not entirely sure how the seals fit in to this but they had a mascot and I tried to take a picture:

I'm sorry Rhea, Red Lobster might be under fire for a while.

Nothing like a power surge

Today we had a mild thunderstorm. It wasn't all that bad. In the middle of it it starting downpouring and we had a power surge. Suddenly, the Halo stops and there's a group of Moreyans out in the hall conversing. It was wierd. It was kinda nice. I've never seen such comradery since the good ol days on Morey 3rd North two years ago. It was reassuring and exactly what I needed.

Review of "Serenity"

Well, this movie was awesome and I'm a relative Firefly newbie in the sense that I only saw 2 episodes. The action was all there and of course it was funny. The plot was solid and engaging. It's really hard to think of things bad about this movie, really. It's not perfect but it's very fun to watch. This is the result of another of Fox's blunders second to canceling Family Guy. Seriously, I know why they release every show now on DVD because they don't know what they screwed up on.

There are some artsy scenes that are visually stunning but may confuse the viewer because they break non-linear time. One of the benefits about not being a TV show is they can really screw with the plot in the sense that, without spoiling, there's a point where it seems like every character is going to die. It's not just suspense, they really may die. Other then that, the visuals are stunning and the universe that is created to really awesome. The characters that are created are easy to relate to and believable.

My Rating: 8-9 out of 10
DVD-worthy: Yeah, I'll get it. Sci-Fi will probably do a midnight run.

Norfolk Adventures

Well today Jodie, Sarah, and I went off to Norfolk to get my wig cut. It looks good, now we just have to figure out how to color it because they sent me the wrong one. We went to Dollar Tree and they got crap. Then was Walmart where I got candy for the movie and Play-Doh. Jodie bought a bag of dinosaurs for the movie also. After that we were off to see Serenity (review to follow) and then we went to Sonic. I got my classic Toaster and a Route 44 Cherry Limeade and then we left.

The hair dresser seemed so depressed about what to use to color it but it's not really hair, it's thin pieces of plastic and it needs to be treated as such. I love how Rachel is always the optimist!

Homecoming

Well, I went to my high school's homecoming game. What a bust. There was only one person from my class there. I did talk to some seniors and other remaining graduates. The school added cheerleaders, oh wait...Yell Squad because the school won't cover their flips. But one thing didn't change, they lost.

On to the candidates, I am glad my cousin Trisha won queen. Not just because I know her but because she had to earn her way to the top. My cousin Adam was up for king as well, but he basically inherited his place by having 3 sibling that were popular. So good for her.

Busy Weekend Perhaps

Well, after writing a paper for an hour, I'm off. I need to go home momentarily to pick out new frames. Then there might be a birthday but I think it's Homecoming. I also need to get some new printer cartridges.

Sunday I'm off to Madison to get some hairs cut, not my own. Weird! And I'd like to study for a test and get an article done.

Year One

Well, It's official. I've been blogging for my first year now. Let's take a moment to think back at all the non-sensical ramblings... OK, moment's over.

A year ago, I was confronted by Snugglebuns who said that he had a Xanga. He said that I shoudl make a Xanga of my own. I wasn't sure about Xanga and I was looking into Blogger and TypePad after watching the Screen Savers all summer. TypePad charges you, enough of that. I went with Blogger because of the amazing amount of complete control you have over the look and operation of your site. Plus, I hate Xanga. Eventually, Snugglebuns went to Blogger to post pictures without separate web space using a program called Hello. Now they do it directly anyways. You can view his old Xanga here.

Let's see, what did I have a year ago... (ignoring category pages dated 09/29/2004)
Holy crap, my first post ever has a misspelling that I finally got around to correcting a year later.
Tales from Theatre Class: that was fun. I was also insane in those days
They should do more retro Halo LANs.
I wonder how Spaceballs 2 is going...
That was also the time when I posted minutes. Yeah, I don't do that anymore.

Holy balls! 4 posts in my first day! Now it's hard to come up with anything for every day. I will now try to become more insane and non-sensical in honor of my one year. If that was possible.

No, I'm not.

Haha, just kidding. I wasn't promoting anything or trying anything really new. Just trying to harken memories of when Sweet 98 was dead at post prom, I think. Anyways, if you checked my site hourly to see if any new developments had arised, Congratulations! I have a special award for you. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, so sad. I had this replace my blog for a day. Anyways, don't panic. Face the peril. It's OK.

Star Trek Nemesis: The Movie That Never Was

(I strongly urge you to ignore this post like any other if you absolutely have no interest in the subject. It will bore and cornfuse you.)
You know, I don't typically review movies from 3 years ago that I've seen a billion times but after tonight's viewing I had some thoughts. The movie tries, really tries to have the excitement of First Contact but I have decided that it's not desperate enough. Shinzon's ship is supposed to be so unstoppable but it almost seems that it suffers Lucas's backwards-thinking "tell don't show" policy. There's supposed to be this fleet on the other side of the super-bad danger zone that we must fly into but I think they should've played it out. It would make the Scimitar much more deadly and the situation much more perilous if the fleet had arrived and become decimated by the awesome power that is 20-something disrupter banks and a kagillion photon torpedo tubes. This would've also corrected another tacky aspect.

After the Enterprise gets the crap kicked out of it, it seems like the crew completely runs out of ideas until some anonymous ensign in the back says, "Hey...what about smashing our ship into his? That might work, right?" Now if a fleet of ships and Romulan assistance could not stop this thing, it would justify crashing into it and attempting the self-destruct. Because now they really are the last thing between this behemoth and the deaths of everyone living on Planet Earth.

Anyways, if you haven't seen this entry into the 24th Century, it's not a bad watch at all. It has one of the neatest space battles seen on screen. Not kidding, it's really cool and fun it just seems that Picard et al have become more impulsive in this movie. The Borg are essentially unstoppable and ships are blowing up all over the place and he doesn't consider ramming the ship in First Contact. Thanks to Star Trek V, there can never be a crappier movie! Thanks for lowering the bar so low.

Spider-Man 3 Villians

Well, It's semi-official. Kirsten Dunst says that the villians are Thomas Haden Church as Sandman and Topher Grace as Venom. I was hoping they wouldn't do Venom but if they feel they can pull it off without making it seem like a stretch for the mainstream to believe I'm all in favor. Oh well. Now I just wonder how long we have to wait.

Hey, what are they doing with Harry?

Where have I been?

I'll tell you. Well, I went home to get my glasses re-fixed and found out that they wanted to send them in again. I'm not sure why, it only needs a screw. In the process of transferring my lenses to a loaner pair they managed to scratch up my lenses so I said screw it, we're getting a new, un-broken, un-scratched pair.

I also found out my eBay packages have been going to the home address. I have my cool-y brooch and my hair. Unfortunately, it's black so Rachel and I are going to come up with various ways to color it including spray paint, markers, Kool-Aid, and food coloring. Guess what Nobbies had? Black! Anyways, I got my laminating done to find out they doubled the price and I thought they overcharged me. I could've sworn she said it was $3/sq. yd but it was feet so it was the right price. Oh well, there isn't a lot of room left on my walls for posters anyways. I also didn't get the Clockwork Orange one laminated because the attendant was cute and I didn't want her to think I was a total freak and perv. Not that it would matter but I don't know what happens when I leave that town.

I've been listening to Bright Eyes for most of the weekend and the $10 CD was tempting and I'll get it eventually. I have to return momentarily on Friday to pick out a new frame and to pick up my other package that will be delivered home by PayPal. Ooh! Best Buy also exchanged my Franz Ferdinand CD with the warped disc for a new one. That made me happy, plus the shiny metal pin. Ooh...shiny metal pin...

More in the mail

I am no longer mad at my glasses. My 5ft package came! It's my twin 5ft sections of clear PVC pipe. And the lettering doesn't go down the edge, but it's more of a raised lettering. I'll try to remove it but if not, I really don't care because it's hardly noticeable and won't be once it's filled. Now where's my other stuff?

On another note, I am mad at myself for forgetting that currently eBay and PayPal has a 10% off thingy until September 28 if you type in "celebrate" into the offer code in PayPal. It's for eBay's 10th year and I'm upset that I paid full price for something not too long ago. Oh well.

I am getting angry

After the ACM speaker that didn't show a group of us went back to my room and played Star Wars Risk and Tina played DDR. That wasn't making me angry. After they left I kept playing DDR until my lens popped out. I got my glasses back today and the place in Fremont didn't even send the right screw for my glasses. The tape I held initally held better. The loaner pair that had my lenses in "by a breath of air" held better. But when I get them back from the place that's supposed to fix them, they break in a matter of hours. Thanks. I'm going back to my tape.

Another Benefit of the Midnight Run

It seems that Walmart will include a Bonus DVD with the Episode III DVD. Always nifty:

eBay Has Redeemed Itself

I was getting upset at eBay so much but today it was so nice. I got an email that one of the items I wanted but gave up on had finished, but I had a second chance for my highest outbid. That was nice. I guess the winner retracted his bid. So now I'm happy. But I still have to wait 2 days to get outbid on something else! The suspense is killing me, I hope it lasts.

On another note, I got a copy of the Violent Femmes CD from Jodie which I have to hear and she says she's working on the Bright Eyes mix of hers. I also got a gift from the Littlest One of a Chewbacca sucker thingy. They gave me sugar in the form of Star Wars. Bad idea.

Battlefront on Hard

You know what really grinds my gears...Battlefront on Hard. The Medium difficulty is too easy to win but Hard is impossible. Even though you are on a team of like 30, you have to play babysitter for all of your command posts because no one stays behind to guard it and some prick gets a free steal. And of course, your team isn't smart enough to capture command posts on your own so there's no way to win. But what I really hate is when you don't die, lose all command posts but yet still lose. I never died so they obviously didn't kill everyone. Yet somehow we lose. I'm not sure why I keep playing it but it drives me nuts!

Poster Sale

Hooray! The poster sale is back! And it's a day early! I'm not sure why I like this so much but I do. I am a little upset that most of the posters I wanted are European one-sheet replicas that cost $16. They're all ther: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Batman Begins, Star Wars, Episode III, and others that I was too upset to continue looking. Also "the Kramer" is $15. That sucks. I did pick up posters of The Killers, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and A Clockwork Orange.

Also, I think I'm actually going to get that Willy Wonka one at Hot Topic that Sci-fi club keeps looking at. It's about time.

Why do you hate me, eBay?

I am starting to get frustrated with eBay and the whole concept of online auctions. I like the ability to see a price and just buy it. But, no, someone has to come in and bid higher and not just higher, a lot higher! My item started with just me at $10 and now it's still me, but at $37. I'm a little hoping I won't win but I know I can't get this for this price. I just hate money right now. I always find the right thing that is 6 days away from ownership. In that time, someone always finds my item. There's a similar item I watching that expires in about a day and is currently cheaper, but because I'm winning the other that's now 4 days away, I'm hesitant about bidding until I'm outbid so I don't end up with two. Stupid impulsive personality!

Andie's a Star!

Yesterday I went into Sioux City with Jodie to go to the Dowry. I had to order my shoes and picked up a hat but they didn't have a wig. We then went to Walmart because she needed stuff and I needed a knife. I came out with a Darth Vader Halloween pail, candy, chips, dip, bread, and Ramen. We then went to Long John Silvers because I never go there. After that, we went to the mall. Hot Topic had Jodie's pants! She also bought me a couple of pins as my fare for bringing her. We then went to Spencer's to laugh at the crappy Wonka costume. Barnes and Noble had some Worst Case Scenario books to occupy us. We studied the College, Dating and Sex, and Weddings editions. No reason. The circus isn't here yet. On the ride back, we discussed the intricate meanings of songs by The Killers and had to listen to Wonka's Welcome Song again.

Jodie's chicken looks like fish!

Today, I found out from the horse's mouth (well, Bri's) that the children's play this year is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. So I'm a little excited for that. I bought my pipe and a wig and I found a couple of better hats on eBay. I'm so excited for my costume!

This campus is too small

After eating, I went over to Niehardt to talk to Rhea and Amie but they weren't there/conscious so I left at the same time as a girl distributing flyers for a barn dance next Thursday. She was headed to Pile and I was off to Morey. She asked me where I was from and I said Mead and she freaked out. She said that her aunt was probably my former principal, Angela Leifeld. Yes, she was. The girl also dated at one point Jason Larsen and Brad Schutt from Mead. Eventually she asked me the inevitable, "So what did you think of my aunt?" I'm trying to be honest, yet nice so I said that she was a nice person, which she was, but a bad administrator, which she was. I said she'd be a better teacher but as an admin, she has made bad policies. I think she expected that.

Anyways I walk from Pile to Morey and I see Andie, she's off to Gardner. I then see Roger who's off to come up with a proposal for ACM/Sci-fi allocations with Sam and Dan. I've got nothing until 3:30 so I tag along. He says that Megan was out at the haunted house and noticed that a major beam had collapsed and she thinks it may be unusable. That's not good. We see Dan and Andie in Gardner off to eat because the allocations meeting isn't actually until 3 so, since I ate, I returned to the dorm to blog this.

Star Wars Risk

We had an ACM social tonight (which turned into more of a Sci-fi social) in I finally got to play my Star Wars Risk game. There are certain variants such as building ships that change the rules slightly. One of these changes is Order 66. In the game, a Darth Sidious pawn moves down a track that represents the amount of successful d8 amounts to convert a Republic planet into a Separatist/Sith/Imperial planet and Sidious moves to a planet that the Republic can instantly win if captured. It goes to 11 rounds and it moves every Separatist player round. In a game there is usually 2 of each faction so it would move twice. We decided that would be too fast and too killer for the Republic so we decided every round it would move. Unfortunately the Republic does have its advantages while it lasts. There are tokens the Separatist player places each round that grants card bonuses. These are removed by Order 66 but until then it gives the Republic player a goal that is too easy to get to. We decided halfway through the second round that we would adjust for every turn. Of course, near death, Roger the Separatist executed Order 66. He wasn't able to take the big forces away from Dan and I. We were in position to attempt to take the Darth Sidious planet. Then Gardner kicked us out.

I have a package!

I am so excited that my paisley is in. It looks so near perfect it's unreal! I'm going to try the small Wayne-y places just in case there is anything more perfect (doubtful). Now I want my gloves which may come tomorrow.

Speaking of packages, on Saturday I broke my glasses. Sad. A screw snapped in half shearing one end embedded in the frame. No one here services Oakleys so I had to put my lenses in a loner and send the frame to Fremont. I hated the loner, but when my parents sent my old pair in the mail, I didn't really like how they felt so I'm still weraing the loner until I break it or, better yet, they fall out.

Speaking of packages again, I feel sorry for the Morey deskworkers. So far I've got my R2-D2 miniature, paisley, and my glasses and I'm stille expecting my gloves, brooch, and 2 5ft sections of PVC pipe! Wow, that's a sentence I've never thought I'd say. And that's just all I've planned. I love Amazon and eBay, my checking account doesn't.

Nebraska weather just got more frightening

Last night I was up for some reason until 2am. I guess I wanted to be tired. I went to sleep and was awakened by the weiredest thing: Weather! That storm was the loudest, closest, and most freak-alicious storm that ever passed by. I tried ignoring it but then there was one blast that actually freaked me out. There were a couple that felt like they hit nearby. Apparently Stuart and DSax were screaming in the halls but I didn't hear that. Oh well, just amazed by the thunderstorms right now.

You know what really grinds my gears

I figured since these are my random rants, I should rant once in a while. What is up with people in Morey (and maybe beyond the dorm) who have decided that flushing is not good. I hate walking into the frickin' bathroom and finding toilets full. I would understand perhaps if the flusher was on the other side of the room, that requires walking. But it's not. It's right there! Do it! It's sick! I guess people like to see how concentrated they can get the piss in the urinal. Sorry to gross you all out but it must be said. We're college students. The world looks up to us, apparently. Can't we at least give a courtesy flush?

My Midnight Runs

OK, I found out when I'll need gas in my car for these midnight runs:
October 18: Batman Begins (October 17)
November 1: Star Wars: Episode III (October 31)
November 8: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (November 7)
December 7: Star Wars: Clone Wars Volume 2 (December 6)

Because of the fact of being midnight runs, the dates in parentheses are obviously the days before when I'll actually be making the runs. The release dates is when I'll be tired.

Clone Wars Volume 2 Coming to DVD

I read this story and actually said aloud: "Finally!" I am excited for this release too. This will be my second known Midnight run of the 4 I expect to be doing this year:

I didn't know a human could do this

This is so cool it's disgusting:
Finger Finger Revolution

☺ Golden hours are coming to you ☺

They told me to bring my minis to the Sci-Fi meeting so I did. Jodie made a Wookiee chorus line. Chris tryed on my goggles (not googles). After the meeting Jodie and I went to Bomgaars to find some PVC pipe. No, they didn't have any but I know where I can get some online. We then went to Magic Wok where I haven't been in like 2 years. We then got some groceries and I got some actually healthy food. I even resisted the caffeine.

I am so excited for Halloween! I'm going to love freaking people out at with my costume. Anyways, for no other reason, look Rachel:

A Life Interrupted

Today I journeyed up to Sioux City with Rachel, Jodie, Sarah, and Steve to get stuff. We went to ACME and looked at the stuffs. They had DnD Clue! I picked up a box of Minis and got an Acklay and Luke on Tauntaun. We then went to Michael's to pick up crap. Then, the mall. I got my Clone Strike Ultimate Missions and found the goggles. Hehe! We went to Jo-Ann and got fabrics for my costume and found a pasley. We then went to Walmart and found another pasley. I also got a bunch of other crap.

By the way, gas prices in Sioux City were 2.39 per gallon. That kicks Nebraska's prices of about 2.54 across the river. I know there's other places that are worse but how did they get such good prices? Oh well, buy gas. Time to watch the 4400.

(Holy crap! That last five minutes of that episode is a mind orgy! They crammed so much stuff in those few moments! It's awesome!)

Sugar and Caffeine Rushes

Last night I played a game of poker. That's been a while. I was the third to last out but I went out on a straight but the full house got me. I woke up today and found a 4400 marathon in progress. That was nice. I then went with Rachel, Sam, Sarah, and Jodie down to Wisner for Natalie's goodbye party. That was hyperactive. Everyone was wet by the end of the night. She also ran off. That was great. I brought my action figs for the rides and we discovered the fun of bending things. Well, that's all for the moment. Tomorrow I'm off to Sioux City to find ACME, and go to JoAnn's, Hancock, and probably the mall among other places for the costume.

Morey is Falling Apart!

When I moved up, I had the fun of noticing that my cable is out. I realized later that my phone was out too. My closet light also would not turn on. I got rid of the bulb and asked for a new one. I got my new bulb and realized that it takes several clicks to turn on. Later, my sink light went out. I fished out the old probably-non-broken bulb and fixed that. They put in batteries in the smoke detectors and tested them. Then a couple of days ago the alarm would go off for no reason until I removed the battery. I noticed that 3 other rooms had the same problem. I don't mind if the smoke detector isn't working I guess but I want my cable!!!

The End of a Morey Era

Well, I am back in Morey this year, but down a floor. I have found out that there is really no one from third floor still living there. Out of Nick, Josh, Alex, Matt, Gabe, Luke, Jordan, Aaron, Eric, Dave, Nino, Curt, Sean, Panama, Kyle, Jase, Heath, Brandon, and Tony only Curt remains. I really like Morey 316 as a room. It has a great position in the hall and a great view, but when I decided where to live I knew that if I put there it would not be the same. I have moved down a floor and I don't fell like I'm starting over necessarily, but I am enjoying it. College can be one of the most depressing times ever. It has so much change. You meet friends but you neglect to realize you've got at least 3 years of still seeing them at best. Even less when their older and even less when they move out. And then a surge of freshmen come in. Next year is going to be wierd.

On to College

Well, today was fun. They didn't want me in. They said I wasn't on the list. I am. All of my stuff is in here now and my room is awesome. My cable doesn't work yet so to pass time while I unpacked I watched The Empire Strikes Back. Infortunately, once I started I had to finish. I went over to Rachel's to see the rest of the Princess Bride and then watched the first part of Harry Potter. I showed them my goodies! Too many kinds of high. Water and gravity are now evil only when combined.

I am the Rulemaster!

(Those who don't really give a crap can go ahead and ignore this post like you've been ignoring the rest of this blog. Hehe!)
Last night at Dragon's Lair there was a Star Wars Miniature dispute that I was able to mediate. They were wondering if Sly Moore's Dominate ability works on enemy players and General Grievous.

Dominate (Replaces turn: Target non-Droid character takes an immediate turn, which does not count as one of your 2 activations this phase, even if it has already been activated this round; save 11. The target character cannot move this turn.)
OK, now it doesn't say anything about enemy players or anything but the rulebook contains additional information they couldn't list on a card. It says:
Dominate: Instead of taking its normal turn, this character can take control of a target non-Droid character, even one who has already been activated this round. (This does not count as an activation.) The target character takes a turn as though it were on the acting player’s squad but cannot move. It can resist this effect with a save of 11. Determine legal targets normally for enemy characters; any allied character in line of sight is a legal target.
Ah ha! "For enemy characters!" So that was settled. Now General Grievous, he counts as a Cyborg with both Droid and non-Droid attributes. Does this mean having droid attributes would not allow him to be targeted? Well, we go back to the trusty rulebook:
Cyborg: A Cyborg character counts as both a Droid and a non-Droid. This means it benefits from effects that target Droids (such as Repair) in addition to other kinds of effects (such as Heal). However, a Cyborg character is also vulnerable to harmful effects that don‚’t normally affect Droids (such as critical hits) as well as those that specify Droids only (such as Ion Gun 20). Cyborgs can be affected by commander effects.
Not a whole lot there but something caught my eye...Heal works. So I whip out the Polis Massa Medic card with Heal and it says:
Heal 10 (Replaces attacks: touch; remove 10 damage from a non-Droid character)
So if Heal works on Grievous becuase of his non-Droid attributes, therefore Dominate must work because of that same non-Droid status. Boo ya, nerds! Basically the point of Cyborg is to take advantage of both attributes and not be hindered by one or the other.
