DDR: Hottest Party for Wii

Some information has been released on the new DDR game for the Wii. It looks really interesting. It seems you use the GameCube pads combined with the Wiimote and Nunchuck. The pads record the arrows and there will be symbols for when to shake either the nunchuk or remote. This reminds me of the Rayman "dance" modes and is reminiscent of what they wanted you to do with the EyeToy camera with Extreme on for PS2. I hope this doesn't get too confusing but I'm excited. Plus, you can have up to 4 players at once. Something the Xbox version had on the PS2. It's going to be weird to buy DDR pads again. I haven't done that since 2003. One thing is for sure, you are going to need one large room to fit 4 pads comfortably but it's still freakin' sweet.

Apple TV and iPhone

Apple TV is a box that you can sync with iTunes to play music, movies, TV shows, trailers, and podcasts wirelessly from the iTunes Store. This is very interesting. I've wondered why you would buy Pirates 2 for $9.99 on iTunes just so you could watch it on a computer or the small screen on iPod. Buy the DVD. But now, you can stream it to a TV making your digital media on demand. You don't need to find the disc, it's already on your TV. It's interesting, but not portable. You can take the disc with you if you need to. You won't want to drag the box. But it does validate purchasing videos, especially movies, on the iTunes Store if you now have a way of playing it in a neat fashion. Or you could buy the iPod Universal dock kit for $99, connect it to a TV, and watch it that way but that's no fun. Price: $299

iPhone is stylistically a very neat product. The whole thing is one big touch screen. It has a very clean and spiffy interface and has a 4GB to 8GB iPod built in. Apple's site has videos that show how well the interface works. It's got full Internet browsing as well as several neat phone features. It arranges texts well and will show you your voicemail. It can play videos like iPod and will rotate on its side for widesceen ones. But at 4GB and 8GB, how many videos will it hold? Not many. You won't be watching Pirates 2 on this bad boy unless you don't want much else on there. The price is staggering at $499 and $599, making it effectively like a PlayStation 3, but it is state-of-the-art. It's also exclusively under Cingular which is good for me if I wanted it, but I wonder how long it will remain exclusive (like how the RAZR was). This is a neat product and neat to look forward to.

Keep in mind I have never seen these devices, nor actually handled them, I am only responding to the information that has been presented so far so don't go thinking I'm an expert, people. I just thought they were cool announcements and wanted to share my two cents on them.

Terminator TV

ComingSoon! reports that "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" has been given the go-ahead to make a pilot. The show will tell the story of Sarah and her son John after Terminator 2 while they are on the run. On the run from what? In the crappy Terminator 3, John just lives "off the grid" and wasn't expecting anything else from the future until it arrived. They must be running from the law for blowing up Cyberdyne or something. Oh well, it seems interesting so we'll just see how it turns out.

Random Edition

At the gag today they had Superman ice cream. It was yellow, red, and blue ice cream mixed together. It tasted wierd but it was funny.

I think Daniele might be a little addicted to Ultimate Spider-Man. She's good at the combats and even beat Electro faster than I did, but she's not good a direction and movement so the races are difficult. I'm sure she'll get the hang of it.

Book Lady wrote quotes on her cape today. Hilarious!

I was shocked to hear that Isaac Hayes left South Park because of the Scientology episode. It's a shame he can make room to allow parody of his own religion. But at the same time I could see myself in his position, not a Scientologist, but upset that my bosses made fun of something I believed. It's hard to tell when tolerance begins and ends sometimes.

Dave & Busters

I was reading the Omaha World-Herald at lunch today and noticed that a Dave & Busters is opening soon at 132nd and Center. If you've never heard of this place they have food and tons of video games for adults. No, not adult games, it's jest themed for adults. Anyways, I went to one in Chicago back in 1999 and I looked around and found my old card to play the games. I was excited until it said it would only work at the issuing store at Clark Street @ Oak in Chicago. Oh well, I was the 7,870,706th person to get a card there. So, I'll put this back into storage for another 6 years and see if it still works then! Until then, I can't wait to see what it's going to be like in Omaha.

Why Norfolk is Norfork

I was a little bored today, so I was clicking around on Wikipedia, the encyclopedia on everything and stumbled upon Norfolk's listing. Apparently the town was named after the north fork simplified of the Elkhorn River, but the USPS thought it was a mistake so they changed the name to Norfolk and that's why people don't pronounce it as it is spelled. I feel so learned.

I also found out that Wahoo, Nebraska, had the Nebraska legislature proclaim David Letterman an admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska. When Letterman jokingly said he wanted more, Wahoo sent him a '76 Ford Pinto with a sofa attached to the hood, a wall clock made of cow droppings, and two of the town's teenagers, brothers Jeff and Josh Price.

By the way, there is no Wayne State College entry yet so if anyone wants to make one for Wikipedia, go here.

Hotmail Trivia

  • Hotmail is used in more than 220 countries and territories, more than the number recognized by the United Nations.
  • If Hotmail's 190 million active accounts were citizens of a single country, it would be the world's 5th largest country, larger than Brazil (184mm), Pakistan (159mm), Russia (144mm) and Bangladesh (141mm).
  • If connected hand-to-hand, the 190 million MSN Hotmail members would circle the Earth at the equator over five and a half times.
  • MSN Hotmail e-mail service members number more than the combined population of the world's 20 largest cities.
  • If all MSN Hotmail members were standing in single file, they would line the length of the Great Wall of China or the Nile River (the longest river in the world) over 17 times.
  • In 2001 and 2003 MSN Hotmail was featured in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest free Web-based e-mail service provider.
  • MSN Messenger recently broke a record for 16 million users simultaneously online and IM'ing with one another. That's like all of Tokyo talking to at least one person in metro Chicago!

People switch partners faster than MSN accounts

From Mess.be:
Research involving nearly 23,000 Hotmail users in 13 countries has proven that people switch partners more often than they change Hotmail accounts. The study, called "Hotmail for Life", showed that for example 81.7 per cent of the Dutch participating Hotmail users had NEVER changed their Hotmail address, while 77.3% moved homes, 46.9% changed their haircolor and 44.9% bought a new car!

The same goes for other countries: the survey found that 74 per cent of Canadian respondents have NEVER changed their MSN Hotmail address, but a mere 11% have never changed job. Indians top the list of Hotmail loyalists: 92.3 per cent Indians have retained their original Hotmail addresses. India was followed by Italy (86.8 per cent), Germany (85.8 per cent) and Spain (85.3 per cent) in the list of Hotmail loyalists

A Hotmail address, also linked to other MSN services like MSN Messenger, appears to be one of the most stable factors in the life of the Hotmail user. Of all respondents 66% owned their account for over three years already.

I have to note that the study was finalized before the recent Gmail hype. Perhaps the new breed of "Super Inbox" services has made some of the Hotmail loyalists change their minds... or accounts.

Tommy Lee goes from Crüe to Cornhusker

WOW! Tommy Lee is filming a reality TV show at UNL. Apparently he's been there since 10/7.

OK, people I know at UNL: Todd, Scott, Sarah, Brendan, Eric, Katie, Amy, Joslyn, Sara, among others I can't think of at the moment...Totally, let me know if you see him or the crew hanging around. Then, find $100 and buy this so you can easily take a concealed picture and then send it to me.

Spaceballs 2?

Wow, 3 posts in one day...amazing, but I had to include this when I saw it. Ain't it Cool News is reporting that Mel Brooks is writing a Spaceballs 2 (The Search for More Money...I wish!) to try to release it before Episode III. It doesn't seem likely that he could finish it befor May 19, 2005, but it's nice to know. Ain't it Cool News is known for publshing almost anything, like me, but check out the article below.
