Logan's Midnight Run

I am so tired. Last night I made a midnight run into Norfolk to pick up the Clone Wars DVD and that was fun. By the way, Walmart has a 128MB Rio MP3 player on clearance for 50 daura hidden in the back. Shh! The Mauve Hand...Shh! Anyways, I also got The Killers CD and I needed some lighter fuel. I can't watch Clone Wars when I get back because that would put me to sleep around 3 so I wait. I have a full day's events starting with class, class, lunch, field experience, class, speaker, and finally, dinner. I had to wait 18 hours to see it but I finally got to see my DVD! I love it.

One thing is happy, my projects are coming to a close! I had my teaching episode yesterday and my last SPED thing is on next Tuesday. I do have to do some interviews, but I'm not worried. I just can't wait until it's all over! Oh yeah, I also found the mp3 for the Star Trek fight song!

Star Trek IV has come to pass!

I went to the Sci-fi Farscape marathon today and Jodie said that someone at Pepsi said that they may be bringing back Crystal Pepsi. The catch is that they would like it to be in clear cans. The answer: Transparent Aluminum, the formula Scotty gave that engineer back in 1986. Teehee! It's all a weird coincidence and all of this conversation is pure hearsay but it's interesting.

Not Public MSN Beta

I caved a while ago. I got a webcam and Trillian doesn't support it so I'm back to MSN beta. Anyways, I stumbled upon a non-public beta release which is kinda cool. First, it shows display pictures as an icon (you can make them bigger too, but too many are online) which I like, but also there's a private message bar which I like too. You can put in a message there and it will show up in your contact card. It also can replace that with "What I'm listening to" which shows what's on Windows Media Player (as evidenced below). You can also modify it to do that with Winamp somehow.

To show it all off, I made a screenshot. I decided to pixelate the names for privacy, but you may find your DSP. Also, some have grey by their name, that's the Messenger Plus! update that let's you rename contacts and keep the existing name in grey which I like.


Now I got it from here (right-click, save as .exe) but some of the links that the site listed are down, so if you want it and it's not working, let me know. I think it's spiffy and as far as I know, it's perfectly legal otherwise Microsoft would be hunting mess.be down as I speak and they're not.

Review of "National Treasure"

This movie was showing in Ramsey tonight. It wasn't too bad despite the soaring historical inaccuracies. It was a nice story with nice twists and it would be cool if there was something like that. The big killer is that they made the treasure so huge. It takes a lot of gullability to assume that something so massive can continue to evade all records and historians. See, this is why Indiana Jones is good. He's looking for small things: the Ark of the Covenant, the Indian/Hindu stones, and the Holy Grail (tiny by most respects). It's understandable if these small objects get lost. But a treause that huge under NYC 5 stories despite subway excavation under two major streets being gone forever is just ignorance. Anyways it was enjoyable.

My Rating: 6 out of 10, can't ignore the facts.
DVD-worthy: not really, not a bad rental or tape off of pay-per-view.

Music Boredom

Here's a fun fact: When you're listening to music on a playlist on anything, Windows Media Player, WinAmp, whatever; go to Q 98.5's website. Their site plays their callsign sound when you go there. Now if you're bored enough (like me), go to the site right when a song ends and another begins. It's freaky because it sounds like you're on the radio.

Also, I think I know what my next CD purchase will be. Yeah, I actually buy CD's. I think I'll get The Killers because there's nothing like songs that get stuck in your head and refuse to leave. Well, anyways they'll be in Omaha on May 5 at Sokol Auditorium and if I have money, I'd love to go!

Also, the letter people on Fridge 1 keep making shapes and stealing letters and it's not that fun so Fridge 2 or any of the others are better.

Episode III Trailer is out!

I'm always at a loss for words when it comes to trailers becuase I'm never sure what to make of them. I am surprised of the amount of spoilers in the trailer. I'm not talking about Vader or the Emperor, that's a given. But if you notice, they show the death of key prequel characters. Oh well, it's awesome. 60 Minutes said that Lucas wants the kids to stay home because ROTS will deserve the PG-13 rating it will get. Evil!

What I've learned so far

OK, I'm going to vent for a while but I need to do it. I'm going to talk about one of my cousins on my mom's side. She's a year younger than me and has quite the journey. I'm going to try to be as objective as possible and I do realize that I have her siblings' sites listed but I don't mind talking about her.

Now for some background. My cousin started last year at UNK. She visited Wayne but thought it was boring (true that) and she liked Kearney. She drove home every weekend while she was there. Granted my brother drove home every weekend too, but he was in Beatrice which is much, much closer. At the end of the semester she decided to transfer to Southeast Community College in Lincoln and live in an apartment. By the way, her parents are paying every step of the way. Now she says that she doesn't like the teachers and wants to go to UNL. I also hear she wants to move in with two guys and possibly another girl. And the parents are fine with this. She still has no major.

OK, One thing I've learned from college is that everything in college is up to you, there is no one to blame. If you don't like the teachers, point one, who cares, they're going to be gone next semester. And point two, you gotta realize that they don't care about you. If you don't like them you got to make the class interesting and pay attention to get better grades because they won't help you. My second rant is to the parents. I have nothing against transferring to another college but what a weak reason. "I don't like the town." OK, you're not there for the town, you're there for the college. She should have known that Kearney was too far away for her when she visited. Also, I consider my parents buying an apartment to be a reward for doing something good at college. I'm sorry, but switching colleges is not a reward. If I wanted an apartment, my parents would have me pay for it. And I know she won't like UNL. The classes will be too hard or the teachers will hate her.

Here's my psychic vision for her future. She'll leave UNL and maybe the parents will have her stay at home in Fremont. She'll go to UNO, not like it and maybe go to Midland before she gives up on college. She'll move to Washington state to be with her favorite Uncle Joe and will have completed her transformation into one of our aunts or uncles that have moved to the coast and lost contact that she has despised for so long. She was always planning family reunions to get the coastals out here but they all failed and she will become just like them.

OK, I'm done, but I may add more when I think of it...

These Are the Voyages...

Aww, there's little time left. Startrek.com released a production report for the last episode of Enterprise. But it sounds fun. Riker and Troi are back along with Shran and other plot-spoiling characters. No, there's no time travel, it's a holodeck in TNG-era. Riker will be dressed as a crewman, MACO, and another that they won't say...Degra? Hehe, wishful thinking. They're also going to Rigel X, where Enterprise went on its first mission. I've always said that a cool finale would have Bond-iose references to every season along at some subtle point in the episode. You never know now. However, it sounds like a nice and fitting bye-bye.

Couldn't think of anything more obscure.  

I've been slacking

Well, the big news is that the new theatrical Episode III Poster is out! Looks great, check out a huge version here. I've always said that sometime I wanted to get all the theatrical posters of the Star Wars movies (probably the special edition posters for the classics becaus those don't bother me) and have a wall dedicated to those posters up in Wayne, but that's money. And where I'm at, both StarWars.com and StarTrek.com are down, so I'm kinda limited on my super-official news.

I also want to throw this in: According to TrekToday, SpikeTV is interested in Enterprise for a new season but Paramount isn't talking...

Perfect for ADD. Rhea showed me this site where you have a refrigerator magnet board that users just drag letters around. Crazy, but keeps you occupied. Check it out!

Landfills don't die!

I'm playing SimCity 4 and a while ago I zoned for a landfill because I forgot about sanitation. Then I realized that there's much more environmentally friendly ways of taking out the trash. I've dezoned most of it, but now I have a 2x2 square fo landfill that won't go away. Can't delete it, can't remove it, can't destroy it. I got bored and tried using the disasters to get rid of it. Nothing works! I frickin' grew a volcano on top of it and it's still there! Does anyone know how to trash the thing (pun intended)?

Sunny Days

Things have been going so good the past few days, I have to share. I get a job, Halo LAN, bought me something, Friday's cancelled, what more can I ask? I'm so happy I decided to let Rhea borrow my PS2 for break. I figure if I take it home, I have to take my TV home and that's one more thing. Also, Best Buy called when I got home so I'll interview there. As much as I like the job that I've been given, I would LOVE to work at Best Buy.

Halo LAN Results

Yay for Halo LANs! This was very fun. I showed up around 11 because I had homework and I waited for an opening. I brought my camera, but I figured I would not do good so I wouldn't use it. Well, it started off that way with 7-9th places basically covered by me, but then it picked up. I remember how much I miss that game. After a few rounds I got to here:


Somewhere around this time, Bruce asked me "What's going on with you?" or something to that effect. And then I got another good match. On the last match, both Biskuit and I got melee triple kills during football. We rock.


Well, that's about it. I'm looking forward to the next one!

I'm both mad and happy. I found out in Government that there was a Modest Mouse concert in Omaha last night. I would've killed to go to that! But, I am happy that All-American Rejects are coming to Wayne for our spring concert. Goldfinger's also coming, but, unfortunately, I've never heard of them. I know, I'm a loser. Let me know what songs I should get cause I want to know how they sound.

I also found out that my History class is cancelled on Friday along with my Government class on that day, so I may be leaving tomorrow, hopefully.

Battlefront Online

I tried Battlefront online tonight. It's not bad, but something is wrong with the scripting. My first game was me vs. two humans with 6 AI players: Me=Republic on Cloud City. Yeah, that's going to go good. No people to hold command posts and they are destroyers. Then the game does Endor with me as the Rebels, so now they're both in AT-ST's. Yeah, it's not fun. The game needs to detect the amount of players and compensate on its random selection. Don't give the advantaged humans more of an advantage with the only side with vehicles. I can't believe that there isn't anyone online besides these two at 11:40pm, it's not that late. And I know they don't want to cause lag, but 12 people fighting at a time? I know they expect the maps to be full, but when they're not, you have a lot of ground to grab and no resources to do it. What's the next one? Hoth, where they're both in snowspeeders making the AT-AT's useless. And I know they're not cheating, they're doing what they're supposed to, there's just no defense. Although they did manage to get a snowspeeder into the base... Next level, Kashyyyk Docks as the Separatists. I should win this and despite being in a vehicle and against only one this time, the numbers weren't adding up. I'm killing them left and right and capturing command posts but yet they still have a good 50 more reinforcements. I got 42 kills that round and he got 28. Explain that! Next one, Naboo Plains and it feels like it's already in progress. I'm the Separatists and guess where he is...the Jedi Starfighter, where I can't get him, but he can get me. The teams are even, I get in a tank and head to the center, die and notice that we're now 25 under. It's at this point that I turn off the PS2. I need more practice, and people need to play this game online more often. I got respect for the guys, but when you're already owning the AI, does it hurt to get out of the vehicle and shoot at them? Like I said, they're doing nothing wrong, but I'd love to play a big match where I'd have at least another human on my team.

Why do we need to learn this?

Ed was fun today. Monday's have 2 teaching episodes where students teach whatever they want. Today, a student taught us about nouns, verbs, and adjectives. After we're done we discuss it. Now, whenever someone teaches anything that's shop, art, sometimes music, and sometimes literature, Dr. Curtiss has to ask "Why do we need to learn this?" or "Who cares?" and even though he says he's trying to encourage discussion, it's rather obvious that he has little appreciation for these subjects.

Anyway, somehow we got to the topic of teaching English in every class and the row of shop kids in the back thought that they shouldn't have to assign papers in shop. Makes sense, people learn by doing. He did not like this idea. We spent a long time discussing whether shop teachers should assign writing exercises. Dr. Curtiss even said that he would not wnat those kids to be teachers if they did not assign writing in shop. After a while, people stopped caring and the discussion moved on. It was funny to hear this debate, though and it made my day.

The Calm Before the Stress

Well I went to Gretna today. The Toy Liquidators didn't have much but there was a Goldmember action figure that tempted me, maybe next week. I went over to Toys R Us and found the DVD Trivial Pursuit for Lord of the Rings. OK LOTR fans, now go get it! They had a super-posable Boba Fett (which the "vintage" style figures are leaving the racks very quicky being replaced by sneak previews). I'm still looking for Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper. I think the Episode III Vader may be a repack though. If you see any, let me know. I went over to Barnes and Noble. Their website had America (the book) listed for $15, but I saw no notice that this was reduced from $25 anywhere, so I hestiated.

Other than that, I'm done. I can't wait to get back to my stress-filled week next week. Let's see: Government test questions I want to know by Monday, FCS article review on Thursday, 3 readings due for Psych on Thursday, Email thingy for SPED due Tuesday, Sped article review on Thursday. Plus tests on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Yippey!

No, I'm good

OK, the weirdest thing just happened. I'm going to try to censor myself because I don't want to potentially embarrass anyone. I got an IM from a guy in my high school graduating class tonight asking if I liked his display picture (supposedly of his penis) and said if I wanted to go out. I told him that I'm not interested and he said to email him if I change my mind. OK, I'm trying to censor myself because I have the suspicion that this was either someone else on his name or he was inebriated, which is an unnecessarily fancy word for drunk or was high, cracked up, doped up, etc. I did check with Claire to see if I have the right email and I do so now I'm confused. This kid is not by any means gay and my user name is not that ambiguous. So I'll just leave it at that.

Field Experience-ing

I'm so excited! I start my field experience tomorrow for professional education! I'm going to Wayne High and sit in on the social studies class from 1-3pm. My schedule is going to be so busy on Tuesdays and Thursdays now. I have Psych at 9:30-10:45, FCS at 11-12:15, lunch, FieldEx from 1-3, Sped from 3:30-4:45, (then I have Sci-Fi from 5-5:30 on Tuesdays)! Oh well, it will be worth it. I'll also be there from 1:00 to the end of the day on Fridays. So I'm looking at around 6 hours per week and I need 25 hours to pass ProfEd.

My teacher is so cool, too. He basically said I can do whatever I want when I'm there. I could go to the middle school, go to another class, possibly see my old RA Tony, or even wander the halls for two hours if I want. But that would suck. I'm considering going in some MWF from 10-11am-ish because I saw distance learning classes from Mead on the schedule with Mr. Rutt and Jenny Kocian, hehe.

There was a reason why it took me 2 months to put up site news, because whenever I done, something new gets in my head.

First: New Online Status
I finally got around to removing the white pixel shadow around the images so I can have them where I intended, the sidebar. For some reason, the online status site wasn't working correctly and I was waiting for the code to appear so I can use my own images.

Second: Offsite Linking
This is something I'm happy about. Now I have my random quotes and and links/category links offsite, so I can edit them without having the redeploy the template, which takes forever. They're now on GeoCities which updates instantly so I can add to them and save time. The Links code looks like crap thanks to JavaScript, but I take what I can get.

Now: Category Revisions
Two new categories

• Commentary - Formerly Reviews, this will be where I throw reviews and social commentary
• Fun With Toys - Any of the pictures of inappropriately posed action figures I have posted

Finale: Button Links
At the bottom of the sidebar by the Blogger button, I have posted 3 new links in the form of the ever popular 80x15 antipixel buttons. First, I have new respect for Xanga because they let me redirect from Xanga back here. Well, some people use the subscription list as a link list but once you redirect here, you can't subscribe to my Xanga...until now. The first button is the link that lets you subscribe to my Xanga, which sends you here. The second is similar to the first where you can subscribe to my site via My Yahoo! I used to use My Yahoo! but not so much anymore, but I decided to include the option. The next one is the direct link to my RSS feed. This is for any other sites that people use that support RSS feeds. It's a Blogger setting so it never hurts to include it. I also included a matching Firefox button, 'cause y'all should be using it.

Inside the Box

It seems like I'm on a Trivial Pursuit kick, but ever since I found the Episode I version a few years back, I've been excited for an update. Anyways, Rebelscum posted more pics of the Toy Fair that had an opened box view of the game. The categories are different colors and in a different order so intersorting is definetly out. Another thing I noticed is that the board has no Hyperspace spaces which allow you in the first game, to go to any space on the board. Oh well, I'll get used to that. I'm so excited.

Rebelscum also had an open box view of the Saga Monopoly. Unfortunately, there was no view of the Risk opened. That's the one I'm curious to see how the map is done. To see all the pics, click the title link.

Also, Star Wars.com posted pictures of the Hasbro toy lineup and including an interesting oddity. One of the pictures (shown below) showed the game collecton. The Risk and Monopoly look the same, but the Trivial Pursuit is in different packaging than previously thought here. The original one had a blue tone with the stylized Vader mask. This one has more of an orange tone with a standard Vader mask and a character montage. Not anything to worry about necessarily, but interesting to note.

Bye, Bye TechTV

Well, it's finally happened. Ever since TechTV merged with G4 I had a feeling they would get screwed. After the merge, G4 dropped several TechTV shows including Call For Help and that made me sad. Then they started revamping The Screen Savers every other month. Well, today I went to The Screen Savers' site to find out they completely dropped the "TechTV" from G4TechTV. If you've ever watched the station in its golden days, it was awesome and now there's little of it left. I'm sure by summer when I'll be able to see it, The Screen Savers will have mutated into something completely different that what it used to be. Oh well, I need a life beyond TV.

Fifty Daura?!

The other day TheForce.Net posted the new Revenge of the Sith line of toys. They went into detail about the Trivial Pursuit Star Wars DVD version coming in April.

Because the week archives are piling up, I decided to create subject categories so you can find old posts or if you want to catch up. These are listed on the right after the links.

• ACM - This is where I'll put the minutes as long as I am secretary.
• Adult Swim - This is a new category for all things Futurama, Family Guy, American Dad, etc.
• Enterprise - This is where my live reviews/facts for the episodes go and will become a Star Trek news category when the show is off the air.
• Halo - LAN results and any news on my favorite Xbox game.
• Link Blogger - This is where any miscellaneous posts will go.
• My Life Outside of College - This is where I'll put my fun stories.
• Reviews - This is where I'll post ay reviews of movies, TV, or any other social commentary.

Next thing: Online Status
Cool thing I found on forums that shows if you're online or not. The graphics I use have a white pixel shadow so I need to put them on a light background. The MSN one is tricky and the things go up and down a lot, but if you have patience, it's really cool. To get your own go to www.onlinestatus.org.

Team America: World Police played in Gardner Auditorium tonight and I had to go see it. I love how you can tell certain voices are from South Park. It was a very fun thing to watch. I may have been the only one to notice on WSC that the tavern scene was a send up of the Star Wars cantina scene with similar camera shots and the same music, only backwards. I also like the retarded "Matt Damon" character.

There are three scenes that make the movie:

1. Puppet Sex: The movie is so close to porn if it wasn't for the fact that it's puppets. Really screwed up, really funny.
2. Large Amounts of Vomit: After leaving a bar, Gary begins to throw up, and continues to throw up, throws up some more, still throws up, and finishes it off by throwing up. Very gross, very funny.
3. What Screws What?: I like to think I have standards, so I won't quote this scene here. It's all true in an abstract sort of way, and of course, it is very, very funny. If you want to know what they say, check out IMDb's quotes.

My Rating: 8 out of 10, it was very good, but at times the puppets were distracting, especially how they walk.
DVD-worthy: Yeah, I'll probably get it.

What a great day

Yesterday was awesome. I got my email saying my order has shipped so I'm looking forward to that. I then went to Norfolk because I had a huge urge to get SimCity 4 and looked for a Darth Vader action figure and, instead, found the Sneak Preview figure of General Grievous so I got that. I also picked up some chocolate and Valentines. Unfortunately, now I must not spend money on anything for a while (I say that now and wait a week...).

Halo Movie Gets a Screenwriter

ComingSoon! reports that Microsoft has signed the writere of 28 Days Later and The Beach to adapt the game into one movie and the scrrenplay would be sold to studios for rights. The article also said how Halo 2 was the second-best selling game of the year and has sold so far half of the copies of Halo. Does anyone know what the best-selling game of 2004 was?

Now I'm Depressed

Well, it's official! UPN finally cancelled Enterprise. It was so close to cancellation last year but they made it another year. I wish there is something I can do, but here we get UPN on Saturdays so we don't count toward ratings. SaveEnterprise.com is currently in Tactical Alert to try to help the show and EnterpriseFans.com is currently on bandwidth hiatus. I guess it would be good for Star Trek to take a break and work on getting back to its core. You never know, the DVD sales might help it pull a Family Guy. I know BnB were hot rocks to make a prequel movie probably dealing with the Earth-Romulan War. And then there's syndication...

I really think UPN needs to realize that it's such a crappy network. It is the network that launched Voyager so I'm not suggesting leaving necessarily, but they're always trying to compete with the other major networks who are broadcasted nationally when they need to take what they are given. It gets low ratings because it's up against major shows on major networks and they were all upset that Battlestar Galactica on Sci-Fi got better ratings.

Well, some good final episodes are coming up including the conclusion of the Romulan arc, the Klingon forehead arc, and the Mirror Universe arc, with the untitled series finale.

Inauguration

I was talking to my cousin Amy last night about how she got to go to the Inauguration last week and she told me something I was surprised at. The tickets cost $900 to sit there and protestors paid the money to got there and complain. I don't know about anyone else, but I would never shell out that much just to whine about something. I would spend that on something fun. Complaining is really not that fun. Luckily she didn't pay because she contacted Chuck Hagel or something and it was free. And it was cool to see her pictures of the snipers stationed.

Cancel and Go

OK, I woke up to go to my 9:00 class and found Corey on the way out of Morey and he said it was cancelled. Yay! I got to sleep in a little longer and I even slept through DS9. I went to Government and then to lunch so now I'm ready to go home. Now I am well rested to drive the hour and a half. If I'm lucky, Wal-mart might have the Episode III Sneak Preview figures even though they're supposed to be out in February. But they are out in some California stores so you never know if Nebraska is a fluke.

I have been on a mild depression for the past few days now, but I think that it is looking better already. Part of my depression was the stress over a project for SPED. Today, when we presented, Our gorup got a 100% overall and I got a 100% individually! I am so happy. As a warning to those I see in the next hours: Don't you dare kick me off of this emotional high because I am still in a position to go bipolar in a snap so don't give me any crap.

Switching to Firefox

OK, I caved. Since I'm in the habit of getting rid of official software, I decided to go for Firefox. Firefox is an Internet Explorer alternate that is safer than IE. Most viruses, spyware, adware, and etc. were designed with IE in mind. There's a lot of extensions you can add to enhance Firefox's functionality. If that's not enough, BBspot has posted a humorous Browser Showdown to compare the two.

Don't be Battlefrontin'

OK, on Sunday I was bored and playing Battlefront and I had some fun. I was playing on Tatooine: Dune Sea as the Empire as a pilot and noticed about 50 people on their side left that I had scored a lot of kills. I do admit I was in an AT-ST, but still, if I can manage 50 or more, I consider it a good game. The final tally was 95 kills with 0 deaths as evidenced by the screenshot below.


If that wasn't enough, later I played as the Republic on Tatooine: Mos Eisley and it turned into a long battle. After taking some command posts and making my typical rounds, I started to notice around the Housing that both sides were severely low on people. We just lost the Cantina when I ran over there to capture it, shot the droid, and noticed 1 vs. 3 on the scoreboard. The Workshop was flashing, telling me they're taking it. I killed the droid over there and saw another running away and got it. It's now 1 vs. 1. I have 3 command posts and the other remaining droid has 3. (By the way, they turned on Orbital Sensors so I couldn't find them at all) After moving to the next command post, I noticed that none of mine were flashing. This means, the droid was stuck somewhere. So I take the Hangar and move to the one next to it. I hear droid talk but never see anything. I start capturing it, when I notice a small brown patch. It a destroyer droid in wheel form, sitting there, not seeing me for some reason. I realize I have to kill him before he sees me and turns on his shield. I take the shots and all go in before he deploys and I win by the closest margin ever. I look at the scores and see that I have 8 command posts. That has to be a record. The screenshot shows it, barely, but trust me, it's there.

I love it when things work

I feel like a posting fool but right now, I am kicking-myself happy. Last Monday, I was really pissed off vecause things weren't working at all, but now it does. My DVD player in my laptop would skip playing DVDs and I couldn't figure it out and System Restore wasn't even working. They would skip in Windows Media Player, InterActual, and InterVideo WinDVD. And then recently, my saved videos on my external hard drive wouldn't play in full-screen mode in Windows Media Player. So I start looking at the performance settings and turned on the options to enable full-screen mode, but it didn't work. So I clicked Reset Default Settings and that worked. Not only that, but the DVDs started working again! I'm not sure how that happened and how they were changed but I don't care, I'm happy! I don't mind watching DVDs on my TV, but I like my laptop because I think the screen is comparable and with headphones it has great surround sound and the LCD screen has great quality.

This is totally wierd

OK, this morning I woke up and found a clear DVD jewel case slid under my door containing Pirates of the Caribbean, Disc 2. I first saw it and thought, "That's nice, except I already have Pirates of the Caribbean." I looked in my DVD ox for it and lo and behold, it was not there. Apparently, someone borrowed the disc and then returned it. Unfortunately, I have no idea who borrowed it or could have borrowed it. Without a roommate I keep my door locked most of the time. If anyone knows who borrowed it, I'd like to know. I appreciate them returning it and if they want the jewel case back, let me know.

Family Guy Season 4 Starts May 1

Fox has announced an official return date for the new season of Family Guy. Set your TiVo's on May 1st, 2005 at 9/8c.

Planet Family Guy has also said Fox has blurred the animated rear ends of characters on Family Guy on a recent repeat to avoid entanglements with the FCC. I love how 5 years ago, there was no problem showing a cartoon butt on Fox, but now it's nasty.

Chad and Jesse want to introduce her. She is a WSC grad and may talk about CIS careers, or the market potential. There will be pizza.

Fundraising
ACM will be working on computers, and one wil be coming soon. Spread the word...
Rates: $5/hr for students, $10-15 for non-students
I will make flyers for this as well as post on the WSC Underground and place an ad in the Stater.

I will also be making "Join ACM" posters because people have been asking questions. I will also send emails the Monday before the meeting.

Sunbeam training - 2 days in February on Saturday mornings or some evening.

Roger will be preparing the systems for Computers for Uganda.
We'd like to send 2 systems in the next semester.
Future ideas: going to Uganda (not right now) for training, African bracelet sales...

Leadership seminar sponsored by Circle K, Student Senate, and SAB will be January 29th, next weekend. Nick would like people to go to this. Email him if you can attend.

Roger talked to Dr. Garvin about speakers. He gave a long list. Nick suggested a 3-person panel with speeches and an open forum for questions. We plan on doing this sometime in late March.

Improvements to make:

- Turn on a TV or play some music in 214 during eating to make it not so quiet

I Love the '90s, Part Deux

I'm watching this and something comes to mind.
OK, It's probably just me, but was Star Wars in the '90s anything to anyone else?
1997: Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition - the beginning of screwing up classic movies
1999: Star Wars Episode I - the highest grossing film that never deserved it in retrospect

They never included these in I Love the '90s during the first time around, but if they don't include it now, I probably will be pissed. If anything, the prequel was HUGE! They mentioned every other film in the I Love the '70s and '80s (the first time) so why not this?

Never when you need it

Has there ever been a time when you completely disregard something you have until it's gone? My DVD player in my laptop has been skipping DVDs since Friday so I've been wanting to see several movies including: Hellboy, Robin Williams: Live on Braodway, Spider-Man 2, Family Guy Freakin' Sweet Collection, Futurama, and Star Wars Episode IV. All of these movies came to mind at different times throught the weekend. I would have played them on my PS2, but I loaned it to Amie for DDR.

Speaking of the PS2, I had an urge to play Star Wars: Battlefront again, but Brenner and Mark are gone and I like having Amie have my PS2 'cause they get a whole lot more use out of it!

So then I thought, maybe I'll play Star Trek Armada, because I haven't played that in forever. Unfortunately, I must have left the CD at home so that was gone. I played a Star Wars game that I hadn't played in forever until it stopped working.

Without the gag, I've really had no need to leave Morey so I've spent the day watching Spike's Super Star Trek Monday featuring all the crappy movies: I, III, IV, and V. I've also watched the sun go down, considering it's not hard because I still have no lights.

I will die a grizzly death.

I was really getting happier with Blogger recently. It would update the site instantly over break, but I guess traffic has increased since then and the delay is on. Mine goes pretty fast, but it is disatrous how long it takes to update Goose's site. Over break I removed the updating link, but now I feel I must put it back in.

Just a word of wisdom: If the site is a BlogSpot site and you want to see it updated, add "index.html" at the end of the URL to see if there has been an update Blogger hasn't put up yet.

The Land of Perpetual Darkness

I think it was Tuesday at about 1:00pm when my main light in my room suddenly went out. I have been living the past few nights under the glow of a laptop LCD screen and the occasional TV with ambient light from the sink area. I got a hold of Phil, the RA, about it and he got Gordie, the custodian, to take a look at it. He replaced both bulbs and it is still not working. So now he is going to fill out a maintenance request to get it fixed. Until then, I will continue to be in other people's rooms until absolutely necessary to escape the incredible darkness that mimics my soul. Until then, natural light is my friend.

Sped Security

I typically don't poke fun at professors when it comes to technology usually because the technology is not working, but this is on exception.

In Special Ed yesterday, the teacher puts up the computer on the projector. It naturally brings up the Novell login screen and she goes, "What's this? It's never done this before." She then proceeds to turn off the Promixa, type in her password, and then when the desktop has loaded, turn the Proxima back on.

MSN Messenger 7

I downloaded the beta today. I never use MSN without Messenger Plus! but I found out there's a beta version of that for MSN 7. (If you don't know what Messenger Plus! is, it's an add-on that enhances MSN with features such as contact renaming, send sounds, contact notifications, remove the ad banner, POP3 email, and a buttload more) I always recommend Plus!


I do like it. It's come a long way in the months it's been out. The gaping security hole in the winks appear to have been resolved. There's some things that are nice such as winks and nudges, but I think I'd use them as much as I do MSN Games, rarely. I like the look of it and the ability to log in with a status. The big display pictures are nice for yourself. I am not a big fan of the fact that you need MSN Spaces, their version of blogging, to have a contact card. It just feels like another way for Microsoft to take over EVERYTHING related to computing.

I will be sticking to my Trillian, but if anyone wants to use the new MSN for a wink or something, I can switch over without hesitation, but I don't know yet if I will return to MSN. It does seem like everytime I go Trillian all the way, a new version of MSN is out that makes it feel a little obsolete.

I have to get this out

Last night I was talking to Heath in the hall and Sarah and Tammy, the AD of Morey, walk along checking the halls and they stop and notice I have no roommate. She was talking about consolidating those without roommates.

Here is my stance on moving: I already moved once this semester and I am not willing to move again. I don't mind consolidating but I feel that having a single room is a perk of having a roommate leave.

She got the feeling I didn't want to move and Heath did. This is the thing that gets me: On our floor section there are 6 or so people that have their own room, there are several vacant rooms on the floor, and no one will be transferring now because they would be in now. What the rush? I think this will fall apart but if it doesn't I will fight this crap.

First day of semester

I am so tired of walking from Morey to Connell! I went to my first class, American History II, in Connell at 9, which went well because we got out early. I went back to Morey to see DS9. I then went back to Connell for Government with Mark Leeper. That was fun. Then I went to the gag with Rhea and back to the room for a while. I then went to Brandenburg for Intro to Ed and I was so happy because Nikki was there. I finally have a class with her.

I went to Mark's room and played some Halo 2 and some Battlefront. I've noticed something about the Xbox version: the blaster pistol is worth crap. It has no rapid fire. The PS2 version has a better trigger or something I like it. The individual button of the PS2 D-pad makes it easier to give commands, too. I went to dinner with Mark and Amie stopped me about DDR so now I'm in Niehardt playing and blogging.

Tomorrow, I'm off at 9:30 to Psych in Connell...

What a day!

Moving in wasn't so bad. I luckily got a spot in Lot 9. The bookstore wasn't crowded at all either. I rearranged the room somewhat but now I have a big hole of emptiness I need to fill.

I hitched a ride to Norfolk and picked up some groceries and the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack. Funny story: Amie goes to use the self checkout because she doesn't want to feel guilty about buying a Rod Stewart DVD and some macaroni and cheese and right as she touches it it screams "Please stand by. Help is on the way." and won't let her scan. She ates those things.

I then went to Niehardt and watched the Princess Diaries 2 which screams "Disney" all over it. Oh well. Rhea said, in a fight, she'd kick my face into the snow and then...I'd...eat some snow!

I am now very tired of walking and looking not at all forward to class tomorrow. Rhea was happy to know that she's in my Government class at 11. It's nice because everyone HAS to eat at 2!

Getting Ready

OK, I've got my car packed up into what I think will be 5 or 6 loads. I am going to be tired tomorrow! I want to leave at noon and/or try to get back in Wayne at 2:00. I'd like to get my books too. I also HAVE to see people I haven't seen in forever.

Going back to Trillian

I was looking through my favorites today and noticed that the icon for Trillian had changed slightly. I looked at the site and found they had a new version for free for the first time in a long time. I downloaded it and feel satisfied.

Trillian is an instant messenger that connects to AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo!, and IRC to allow someone to use them all in one program. I started using it sometime in 2003 and enjoyed it until MSN 6 hit. It added display pictures, custom emoticons and other crap that Trillian wuld not support for it's free version, 0.74. I started usind MSN and Trillian for my AIM and Yahoo! until the new version of AIM came out. It drove me crazy! It kept making noise, wouldn't allow me to remove AIM Today, I couldn't stop the notifications so I said screw it. I forgot about Trillian in the process.

This new version, Trillian Basic 3, allows display pics and has some other improvements that I like. I think I will be using this until something better will inevitably appear on the scene and they decide not to update it. I recommend this program to anyone who uses more than one instant messenger program actively.

Review of "The Phantom of the Opera"

"You, you are the worst thing to happen to musical theatre since Andrew Lloyd Webber! And you, well I just plain don't like you!"

But seriously, I enjoyed this adaptation a lot. Having said that I have some gripes. There is one part during the song "Music of the Night" that the Phantom hits a very, very high note. I wanted to say, "Testicle-check! They still there?" This may be one of the reasons why critics have said the the male roles were played by how Arnold Schwartzenegger would put it best, "girlie men." I didn't really notice except for the fact that Raoul sometimes had hair neater than Christine's.

Also, the phrase "Angel of Music" came up many times that one could invent a drinking game to that phrase. Also Christine is very dumb. We've got a classic Batman mask problem with the fact that Christine and the rest of the show can barely recognize the Phantom in a different mask. On his mask, the disfiguration of his face seemed to grow or shrink depending on the mask he chose to wear.

Now I know this was a musical, but did they have to sing every little bit of dialogue for no reason? It became distracting and hard to follow.

Beyond those, this was a fantastic movie even considering it came from Joel Schumacher who brought us classics such as "Batman and Robin."

My rating: 8 out of 10
DVD-worthy: Yeah, I'd probably buy it

New Year

Well, I had a good new year. I went over to Omaha to see some of my old Common Ground buddies I hadn't seen in forever. We played some weird card games, watched Family Guy, and played Halo 2. I held my own pretty well. I was a gainst a shotgun-monger and he almost got the best of me, then I got the sword. We then went out at midnight to light off fireworks. One of them hit the nieghbor's house. Oh well. I'm not a fan of lighting fireworks so I just watched. That pretty much ended that. I had fun.

I think tomorrow I will be seeing "Phantom of the Opera" so I'll probably review it. And now I have to think about what to do with my single room. I'm not kidding, I will go ape if Jarrod Knudsen tries to make me move twice in a semester! If anyone has had or knows someone who got a single room when they paid for a double, let me know so I could use it against him if he gives me grief. Thanks.
