Video Mods

This is funny. MTV2 has a show called video mods and they have the video from the summer of Franz Ferdinand's Take Me Out modded by Episode III. It's quite funny to see Mace Windu and Obi-Wan on guitar and Yoda on the drums. Apparently they showed a Battlefront II mod on Friday with Vader singing, Boba Fett and Darth Maul on guitar, with Grevious on drums. Too funny.

Camaraderie

Hanging out on the floor for the past few weeks has been really eye-opening. I've noticed more people on this floor talking to each other and visiting each other. From the random goose-call to the loud drunk, I think this floor is becoming something that I haven't seen since my first year at college. We did gain 3 new neighbors from the fire. Oh well, I am happy there's no Soc tomorrow. I may play DDR some time.

Nostalgia Day

Today I was in a reflective mood for some reason. I watched my Senior Ski Trip and Class of 2003 DVDs, looked at my yearbook, and played my Year One playlist. I miss all that stuff but then I remember that I have it great here. I rock. I also had my American Presidency class with Leeper cancelled. I don't mind that class but I'll take an excuse to do nothing.

By the way, I know I would look like a dork in the Stater, Rhea.

You Passed 8th Grade Math

Congratulations, you got 10/10 correct!

Frankie says a lot of things

Well, I'm back and my costume is done. I'm excited. I toured the haunted house and I don't think I'm going to be a good tour guide because I can't see a thing in there. I'll probably guide people for the first few hours while you can still see light through the roof and then I'll have to stop. I also am not going to the house tonight. I'm very tired and a little irate at the moment and I need some time to relax. I know, I was just on break but boredom doesn't equal relaxation. I'm going to chill out for a while and take it easy.

Frigid Fall Break

Well, I think my parents took the conservation request a little too far. It is so old in here. It's got to be about 40 in here! For once, I'm glad my room at college is hot. Anyways, I tried to play Red Alert on my laptop today and it wouldn't install. I'm using Windows 5.1 and not Windows 95. How dare I? I picked up the new Franz Ferdinand and the newest Bright Eyes CDs too with my Best Buy bucks. The cheap punks only allow $3 at a time on CDs and video games (and I suspect DVDs). Thanks so much. It was still a good deal anyways. Well that's all I know now. I'll try to make it back up by 6 or so but no promises.

Spike gets Star Wars

Spike has purchased rights to carry all six Star Wars movies in April 2008. Looks like it cost between 65 and 70 million dollars to do so. Ouch but cool! Well, they'll probably play the crap out of it like they do Star Trek

Banging

Last night I woke up at 4am to the sound of a very loud banging on a door. I didn't mind until it was so loud it made me wonder whether it was my door. I couldn't see any foot shadows but I took a look. Here's a drunk DSAX in the hall with Stu and Danza banging on his door trying to wake up his roommate who is passed out on the inside and he's locked out. Then Stu takes notice to the fact that DSAX is wearing his keys on a lanyard around his neck... He tries to open the door to find out that he can't because he has broken the door. He uses a credit card to jimmy the door open and gets in. I sleep. I wake up to see what he did to the door. The lock is busted and there's a crack down the middle. Nice. You know, the RA has all the keys...

Midnight Run Begins

Well last night was the midnight run to go get Batman Begins. I took Dan, Andie, Megan, and Roger along. I found the movie, then later discarded it for the 2-disc. We looked at fun stuff also. Today I was really freaking tired also because it was no-caffeine/no-sugar day. Well what can you do.

On another note, the DVD has a trailer for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the beginning.

The Borrowing

Well for the past week or so I let DSAX borrow my Star Wars: Battlefront for when I went home. He also borrowed Revenge of the Sith from Comte, which I had in turn borrowed at least twice. DSAX also borrowed Clone Wars from me and the other day borrowed Alexander from someone. I borrowed out The 4400 Season 1 to Curt to see if he likes it. Matt wanted to borrow the Untold Story from Stu but he had already borrowed it out to Sarah, so he borrowed my copy. Matt let me borrow his Rilo Kiley and Interpol CDs because they're good. Keith stopped by a couple days ago to borrow a DVD and went for Episode I. Today he returned that and borrowed Episode II. I have to retrieve my borrowed out ACM Secretary notebook because I wasn't at the last meeting and I may waste 3 hours of my existence to borrow Alexander because it is a Director's Cut and I'd like to know if it was improved slightly. Also, if anyone wants to play Risk, I could borrow out one of my thematic versions...

Oh yeah, I need my borrowed Willy Wonka action figure back from Rachel when she's done.

Hover!

I totally forgot about this fun game that was on the Windows 95 CD. Try it if you still remember it: http://www.duke.edu/~mfc5/HOVER.htm

Miniatures in 2006

Hey! They're not done! Wizards of the Coast released what we are to expect for 2006. It' doesn't really start up for a while so these huge Universe packs will probably be around for some time still.

Attack on Endor (due February 2006)
What? I'm not sure what they're up to with this one. They released the "Rebel Hero" Endor versions of Chewie, Han, Leia, and Lando in Universe. Nien Nunb and Ackbar were in there also along the the Dresselian Commando seen in the breifing scene of VI. What more can they make up? They can always add more stormtroopers and rebel troopers but what's the point? Perhaps more and more Ewoks or even Wicket? I'm hoping they include a good Luke unlike the last one. Seriously, this guy couldn't even take on the first Vader, much less the newest Vader. Give his some Hit Points and Attack modifiers similar to the super New Republic Luke who can't be used here beacuse he's not Rebel.

Champions of the Force (due May 2006)
I'm not sure what they're planning here. Are they going to reissue every Jedi and Sith they have made? I have to give them credit, the Republic expansions created a ton of Jedi to use and Revenge of the Sith duplicated the best ones. Please, not another Mace Windu, Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Anakin. I can't take it. I can see them doing this for those who started at Revenge of the Sith and could find any Clone Strike but got the Rebel Storm reissue and are short on Clone Wars Jedi like Qui-Gon and Darth Maul (irony there). I hope they use this to expand on the New Jedi Order they started in Universe and not waste time on duplicating the Republic. The New Republic is filled with a horde of undone Jedi.

Bounty Hunters (due September 2006)
Again, what? They already did the bounty hunters in the first set. The only, and I mean only one they left out was Zuckuss and who really cares about that loser. They better go Expanded Universe on this set.

Galactic Conquest (due November 2006)
I don't know why, but to me this seems like a troop-builder set, which isn't bad. It would be fun to see what a squad on non-Unique characters can do on a massive scale. This could also be a code name for the New Jedi Order also as the Yuuzhan Vong are trying to conquer the galaxy...

I'm not mad or anything, I just don't like having duplicate characters like they did in Universe. I'd be really surprised if they didn't reach further into the New Jedi Order more. There are so many new characters that haven't been miniaturized in that set and it would be fun. I guess we'll have to see.

Finding the "Nooo!" in VI

Last night I was on Wikipedia looking up Star Wars and it said that 3 lines were repeated through all Star Wars: "May the Force be with you." "I have a bad feeling about this." and "Nooo!" This made me think, where are all the "no"s? I figured out:
Episode I = Obi-Wan Kenobi
Episode II = Qui-Gon Jinn
Episode III = Darth Vader
Episode IV = Luke Skywalker
Episode V = Luke Skywalker
Episode VI = ? the droid whose feet is being burnt

It took me a class of Tekken Society to figure it out but I did. Can you? (By the way, those who I have told, if you stumble upon this, don't blab!)

Jackson Wins 'Halo' Franchise

from IMDb.com:

Academy Award-winning director Peter Jackson is turning his favorite video game Halo into a feature-length film. The Lord Of The Rings movie-maker grew addicted to Halo while shooting his latest film King Kong - so he jumped at the chance to snap up the movie rights and take it to the big screen. Jackson will produce the sci-fi film in his native New Zealand. A cast has yet to be announced and it's unknown if he will direct as well. Halo follows hot on the heels of a string of computer games which have been adapted for the big screen, including Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Resident Evil and Doom. The game has sold over five million copies around the world and charts the adventures of futuristic super-soldier Master Chief in his quest to save mankind from aliens. Bungie, the Microsoft-owned business which developed Halo, says, "We're delighted to have someone who's as committed to the Halo universe as Peter Jackson was to Tolkien's Middle-Earth".

Risk and Revenge

Well, last night Dan, Andie, Chris, and Michael came over and played Risk followed by Star Wars Risk while watching(?) the DnD movie on Sci-fi. We then watched Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story and some select South Park episodes until about midnight. Here is Chris's wall of Africa:

As I was escorting them out of Morey I heard the familiar sounds of the Episode III video game. Dsax had borrowed the game from Comte. I watched him play until 4am. That was fun/funny. I borrowed it from him after he beat it and playeed through it. I relieved several elements of the fun and anger I had posted about eariler when I first played it. Oh well.

Later a group came back to play regular Risk. I won that one. I was green.

Widescreen vs. Fullscreen

OK, this is for those of you, including my own brother, who think that fullscreen is so much better than widescreen. Here is a comparison of fullscreen and widescreen from Star Wars. As you can see you get so much more picture with widescreen. They don't add black bars to the top and bottom, they zoom out and add more picture to the sides. C'mon people!

Save the Seals!

Well, I went home this weekend to pick up my glasses and today I went in to Omaha. Outside Red Lobster there was a protest to save the seals. They told me to boycott Canadian seafood. I'm not entirely sure how the seals fit in to this but they had a mascot and I tried to take a picture:

I'm sorry Rhea, Red Lobster might be under fire for a while.

Nothing like a power surge

Today we had a mild thunderstorm. It wasn't all that bad. In the middle of it it starting downpouring and we had a power surge. Suddenly, the Halo stops and there's a group of Moreyans out in the hall conversing. It was wierd. It was kinda nice. I've never seen such comradery since the good ol days on Morey 3rd North two years ago. It was reassuring and exactly what I needed.

Review of "Serenity"

Well, this movie was awesome and I'm a relative Firefly newbie in the sense that I only saw 2 episodes. The action was all there and of course it was funny. The plot was solid and engaging. It's really hard to think of things bad about this movie, really. It's not perfect but it's very fun to watch. This is the result of another of Fox's blunders second to canceling Family Guy. Seriously, I know why they release every show now on DVD because they don't know what they screwed up on.

There are some artsy scenes that are visually stunning but may confuse the viewer because they break non-linear time. One of the benefits about not being a TV show is they can really screw with the plot in the sense that, without spoiling, there's a point where it seems like every character is going to die. It's not just suspense, they really may die. Other then that, the visuals are stunning and the universe that is created to really awesome. The characters that are created are easy to relate to and believable.

My Rating: 8-9 out of 10
DVD-worthy: Yeah, I'll get it. Sci-Fi will probably do a midnight run.

Norfolk Adventures

Well today Jodie, Sarah, and I went off to Norfolk to get my wig cut. It looks good, now we just have to figure out how to color it because they sent me the wrong one. We went to Dollar Tree and they got crap. Then was Walmart where I got candy for the movie and Play-Doh. Jodie bought a bag of dinosaurs for the movie also. After that we were off to see Serenity (review to follow) and then we went to Sonic. I got my classic Toaster and a Route 44 Cherry Limeade and then we left.

The hair dresser seemed so depressed about what to use to color it but it's not really hair, it's thin pieces of plastic and it needs to be treated as such. I love how Rachel is always the optimist!

Homecoming

Well, I went to my high school's homecoming game. What a bust. There was only one person from my class there. I did talk to some seniors and other remaining graduates. The school added cheerleaders, oh wait...Yell Squad because the school won't cover their flips. But one thing didn't change, they lost.

On to the candidates, I am glad my cousin Trisha won queen. Not just because I know her but because she had to earn her way to the top. My cousin Adam was up for king as well, but he basically inherited his place by having 3 sibling that were popular. So good for her.
